You Get To Choose!!

Well...sort of...

Dr. Hayward has given us, the band members the opportunity to decide which show we do at the last home game against Buffalo. And seeing as how I and at least a few others feel that the crowd (you guys) should also have a say in it, well...here's your chance!! So far we have done the CSI: Bowling Green Show (from Minnesota), the Sunshine Show (from EMU), and the Guitar Hero Show (from Miami), the last NEW show we will be doing is a musical montage thing at the Kent State Game. I don't have the music in front of me right now otherwise I'd say what songs are in it. So yeah...whatever results I get, I'll try to pass onto Dr. Hayward. (But I can make no promises as to her decision!!) Not doing one is not an option because we'll be doing one regardless.

The music for the Broadway show is a bunch of overtures from different musicals, "Gee, Officer Krupke" from West Side Story, and "You Can't Stop The Beat" from Hairspray.

and as far as the vote goes...I'm torn between the sunshine show and the CSI show. I think the sunshine show is something unique and the ending just wouldn't work as well in a "travel" situation, i think...and that was a huge part of what I liked about that show...it just gave it that...feeling. the CSI show I thought was incredibly cool and just complex enough that it makes people go "wow"...so I voted for CSI, but i am still a lil bit torn.

Great job on the guitar hero show today, guys! that was a great one, too! :)

As for the next show,(FMB on Broadway) It might not be an option due to having to have the HeeBee BeeGees available to sing Officer Krupke for us. So I would lean towards a repeat of the the first 3 shows we've done.

I don't see how a show might not be an option due to a group not being there to sing. The show should be made as a marching band show, with the option to add a singing group maybe, but I don't feel like the FMB should need to rely on outside groups to do a new halftime performance.

Bands have played Officer Krupke many a time and it's fine without vocals.

We can very easily do the fmb on broadway show without the heebee beegees...just like we can very easily do the guitar hero show without the dance team...they aren't required and the show will be just fine without them...they are an addition to the show that adds a certain element to it but it isn't required...either way...it will be up to dr. hayward to decide anyway.

I'd actually prefer that. Not sure why we're doing it with them in the first place. I think its a waste of resources to mic them for one number. At least when we did the Patriotic show 4 years ago it was with the entire Men's chorus and it was the entire number.
Hope we aren't paying the HeeBees b/c i'm fairly sure we didn't pay the MC 4 years ago. And they should appreciate the publicity they get for performing with the Falcon Marching Band.
I also know they will be performing with the kids concert with the FMB as well, so who knows

The HBBG usually sound pretty good live, but every recording I have of them from Men's Chorus cds is terrible. I am very unhappy about them performing with us. When we did the whole miced vocal thing four years ago it was unique and secial because of the occasion, and because of the immense professionality of the men's chorus. This will not be the case for the next show. There will be nothing unique or special about the next show and I am very disappointed we are making this move. Most other occasions where this has been done have been a resounding, echoing, and monumental failure with other ensembles. I'm not happy about this at all and I am very open about it. I have plenty of respect for the effort the effort HBBG put in week in and week out, I just really dislike the miced vocals with the marching band, anyone who has seen what the Cadets did this past season knows THAT was TERRIBLE!

Also i decided to look at the parts. The only section supporting the HeeBees from measures 12 to 28 are the clarinets, so we would have to re-arrange it if we were to do that show again without the HeeBees.

And I agree with Niz, when they did the 9-11 show 4 years ago, it was a special, commemorative, collaborative occasion. This is just to do it. I think that the trombone section could have, and should have, (along with perhaps the baritones) had the melody. Trumpets or mellos as well.
Possibly passing off from trombones to baritones, similarly to how Blast (whichthis supposedly is based off of) does, switches off between two trombones, trumpets, and horns respectively.

But that's my opinion.

btw... are the SheeBees going to do that sill hand fart thing too in the mic?

Although... having Gruber riding around on a unicycle and the possibility of him losing his balance and breaking his head open does have a certain appeal....  :axe: :snakeman: :supz: :smt031 :smt041 :smt041 :smt041 :smt041 :smt041 :smt059 :smt065 :smt065 :smt077 :smt077 :smt083 :smt083 :smt083 :smt083 :smt083 :smt083 :smt083 :smt098 :smt098 :smt109 :smt101 :smt064 :smt031 :smt029 :smt021 :smt021 :smt019

The final verdict is in...

The show will include (in this order, I think) "Who Are You" from show #1, "Paint it Black" from show #3, "House of the Rising Sun" from show #2, and "Can't Stop the Beat" from show #4.
