Unbelievable...

Welp...the Falcons did it again. Had the lead against Buffalo the whole game and threw it away with 37 seconds left. Maybe they didn't want to go to a bowl game anyways. Probably for the better...we wouldn't want to be embarrassed again. I'll get to the point of this. I just want to rant about the football team and how they stood up the band at the end of the game. As most of you reading this know, win or lose, the football team come to the band after the game and stand with their helmets in the air while we play the Alma Mater. However, tonight they stood us up. Yeah...it was cold. Yeah...they just lost the game, so they were probably mad. But, I don't appreciate them just running straight into the locker room and not thinking twice about coming over to us. What else did they have to lose by not coming over? We stayed the whole game and were just as cold (if not colder, since they have kerosene heaters). We played the Alma Mater to an almost empty field. I wish there was another home game so that when the Falcons came to hear us play we would just run out of the stands and stand them up. It wouldn't happen because the FMB is much more dedicated and spirited than that...but wouldn't that be interesting? Don't hate on me too much...I'm just a frustrated band member. Roll Along!

+100%

I was appalled too. Just another pathetic move by a "pathetic" coach.

It just goes to show that no matter how much we support the team, through and through, we are just there. The vast majority of the band never lost hope, even when Buffalo scored 20!!! points in the 4th, we kept going.

But i can understand, they were cold and just wanted to see if the best of the team was in the locker room b/c it sure the hell wasnt on the field.

Thank you to Dr.H for having enough class to play it, even tho the team lacked the class to stay since we do that to show our appreciation to them.

Here's my thoughts on this whole situation...

first off...i'm not happy about the whole deal either but it could very well just be the seniors, thus the team was not happy with the coaching calls as they were very well able to keep Buffalo out of the end zone for a good 3 quarters...so it's a little understandable...keep in mind that, yeah the team did have those kerosene heaters and such, but if you noticed, a lot of them (if none) did not wear jackets...the most any of them had on under their uniforms was under armor...so they were probably colder than we were.

Second of all...after that 'lil rant...I saw us playing the Alma Mater more for the Dance Team and Cheerleaders as well as the select few fans who chose to stick around (as well as for those boyscouts that are apparently camping out on the field tonight) so at this point I've crossed over and have just said F*** You Greg Brandon, Just F*** You...The team was awesome when they were able to do so but the coaching (from what I saw anyway) just totally screwed the game over...

FMB you did a great job, not just tonight but all season long. Very entertaining shows. What Coach Brandon did tonight is unacceptable. He is a classless human being.

People forget that it's an Athletic Department policy that ALL teams respect the Alma Mater after every contest: win or lose. It's going to be a very telling couple days around here...

I'm just glad we played beer barrel. We almost didn't, and with that being my last game ever on the field at the Doyt, a small part of me would have died without that song.

Once again, THE SUN ALWAYS SHINES!

Thanks for your efforts, bandos. Wool isn't so bad when it's freezing out, huh? ;-)

I'm pretty sure Partridge was the first guy I saw off the field. (just so we're not placing all the blame on Brandon here)

What they did was almost justified; if that happened to me when it was my senior year on the football team in that BIG of a game, I wouldn't want to show my face for a while either.

Again, almost justified. I completely understand why they didn't stay though.

if that were even remotely acceptable, the band would have left after halftime. there is no justification to completely disrespecting both the school song and the "after-game" tradition like that...at least, not in my eyes.

Actually...I was fine w/ freezing my azz off for the first 3 quarters...however if it were even possible I'm pretty sure that the majority of the FMB were more than wanting to get outta there half way through the 4th quarter...me included

this whole thing reminds me of the ONE TIME we didn't play beer barrel and EVERYONE (football team included if I'm not mistaken) was very upset because we abandoned a tradition. Thus, it never happened again (that I'm aware of)...so very interesting that when they didn't feel like it...it was okay. never mind that you guys froze your buns off for 4 quarters plus overtime. I wonder if coach brandon was as angry at the band as he was the rest of the fans. since apparently we were "pathetic", as it were.

band sounded great though. you guys always make me miss it everytime I hear you. <3

Is it? The only games after which we ever played the Alma Mater were football games. And, that didn't even happen until Coach Meyer and Dr. Toney made it so in 2001.
