I was at the Women's hoops game yesterday and just wanted the band to know how much I enjoyed the music and the atmosphere it creates. It makes for a real home court advantage. Keep up the great work. I love Falcon Hockey and hope that you can play more of the hockey games. You also did an awesome job on Friday night. Thank you.

I always like suggestions what the crowd would like more or less of.

Not sure when/why it started, but i'm not a huge fan of the little riff (or insert applicable term here) that the band plays after an opposing team foul. It just doesn't add a whole lot in my opinion.

Of course, I could be in the minority here.

I am definitely a fan of the band playing Foo Fighters and Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

The graduate assistant starting that for something to play that's short enough to get in between plays. It's not necessarily when the other team fouls, just when there is a short break.

I think it's a good idea in theory, but there isnt much prep given and not real meaningful to the crowd. gives the Aband a sense of just noise verses musical enjoyment for the crowd.

It is terrible, but i suppose there could be worse one measure phrases he could've chosen

yeah... the riff thing is really ridiculous... especially because he has us play it at almost every stoppage of play.... true, there are worse one-measure phrases that could have been chosen, but there shouldn't be this kind of thing anyway..
the first time he had us do it, we played it right in Tracy's face as she was shooting a free-throw...

hopefully it phases out...

if it's the one i'm thinking of, the grad assistant that started it tried it at the first women's a-band game that he was at (i think...could be wrong)...in any case...the maggots at that game refused to do it :-D he asked why and we just said that it's been played more than anything else that day and besides...it sounds like shite...it would sound that bad regardless of where we're at anyway...hopefully it'll stop before i have another a-band basketball game w/ him...otherwise there might be a problem :P but we'll see :-D

yeah, that was the one... I remember you guys refusing to play... I did in the bone section too... of course, he never really acknowledged the low-brass either. i really hope it dies. he's trying to make shorts out of everything...

i'm sure there's a reason why he was ignoring the low-brass ... don't complain ;-) and as far as the whole making short songs out of everything...yeah...that's getting real old and real irritating...we already have short songs in that thick folder already...so why not use those?!? oh wait...that would make too much sense :P besides...he's an os-who grad...what else would you expect??

Perhaps this is not the place to complain about a grad assistant....Lots of people see this forum, and it's quite easy to figure out which one you're referring to....

Many of us happen to be friends with the person you guys are cutting on. Why does the fact that he is an OSU grad mean anything? He pays more attention to musicality than most anyone on the staff and I truly appreciate his enthusiasm. No one else who gets in front of the band brings the kind of energy and intensity that he does. I don't see how having fun with your job, and putting energy into it can be constrewed so vigorously as a flaw like so many members of the band do. I know we are talking about a-band, but if everyone brought one fifth of what he brings to rehearsal maybe our pregame would stop sucking so hard.

don't get me wrong - said grad assistant is a great friend of mine as well and I think he is awesome. he does pay more attention to musicality more than just about anyone. but, the "super-short" idea is just really flawed. it doesn't add anything to the game, it just distracts.
it will be a sad day when he graduates in the spring, but i just wish the "super-short" thing phases out
