FMB Highlight Videos
I'm really happy to see that Grant is putting together a collection of the FMB CDs throughout the years. Something else that could be fun is to post the highlight videos. Due to file sizes, it would probably be best to torrent them or use file upload site such as MegaVideo, Rapidshare, or MediaFire.
Would there be an interest in doing this? I've got the 2002 video on VHS and the 2003 & 2004 videos on DVD. I could easily rip the DVDs or even upload images of the DVDs so the menus & chapters would be included. Thoughts?

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
That sounds great chase.I've got 05,06,07,08 (makes me feel old seeing the number of years) and if you don't have the ability to, I can utilize the resources at the University and make the VHS a DVD file.
Let me know.
As for the site, do MegaVideo, Rapidshare, or MediaFire charge? Im sort of new at that kind of thing so not sure. But this sounds like a great idea.
the funny thing about this is that I talked with some people about getting old season compilation and Highlights and making them into DVDs and selling to alumni at Homecoming and other sort of events for just the cost of materials. So that was kind of ironic it was brought up here

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
I've supposedly got unlimited disk space with this hosting account...
Of course, I think the best best would be to put them into flash format and share them that way either via this site, or something like Vimeo.
I can facilitate it if you want to get DVD's or ISO files to me.

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
Grant,
I'll be in BG this Monday or Wednesday if that works for you. I'll just burn to DVDs and bring them along with me to BG. let you get them up at your convenience. Let Chase get you '03/'04.
Not sure how to make it a flash so i'll let you do that, I'd prolly mess it up. Tho if its easy to do in iMovie or Windows Movie Maker i can do that without a problem. Just let me know whether you want them as is or if you want them converted (and of course how to do so)

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
I can do Vimeo, the file hosts I mentioned, torrent, or just get the files to you, Grant. I've got all sorts of video converters so any format needed is fine. You've already taken up the job of posting all the MP3s, so I don't want you to feel like you have to do the videos too. I just thought it would be fun to have those available to everyone.
So, which route do you want to go with this? Would you rather I put something together regarding the videos? Or do you want to make a page for them on here as well?

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
I'd kind of like them to be consistent in their formats and location, so I think, if you guys don't mind... getting them all to me would be great, and then I'll take them from there.
Mail is probably the easiest way to get them to me... Coming to BG is great, but I live in Elmore (about a half-hour NE of BG) and doubt if we'd be able to get things co-ordinated for a drop-off/pick-up on short notice.
SO, if you want to mail DVDs (or if you have a better idea, just let me know):

Unfortunately, this project has come to a screeching halt based on a phone call I got tonight from Bill Hayward. Sorry folks.

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
Well, Bill and Carol just called back and we ARE going to be able to make some things available, mainly the Frontiers shows because everything about them was written/arranged/copyright owned by BGSU. So, that's better than nothing! And they WANT those to be available, which is the cool thing... unfortunately, the RIAA is to blame for these things not being available. *sigh*

What if we set up a secure area that is password protected and hosted them there?

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
No offense to Dr. Hayward or her husband, but what about the videos before Bill started shooting and producing them? When my brother was in marching band, and even my first year, you had to order the videos from Olscamp (maybe IMS?). Is that a different situation?

Metz,
It might be the music itself that has the copyright. BGSU could have purchased the right to sell the video with the musical selections....
That's my guess.

Re: FMB Highlight Videos
Guys,
This sounds remarkably like the arguments I used to get when I pushed for some FMB CD's to be made available to the public...Again, until I got support from the Alum Assoc., which evidently agreed to cover the cost of royalties, NOTHING was done... because they said they couldn't afford to pay the royalty fees.
