I heard there was a mix up on rooms for the band. Dr. Moss came down early to get everything arranged before the kids got in and there was no reservation.

Evidently someone new at the hotel had made a mistake, but last I heard the members of the Falcon Marching Band did have a roof over their heads.

A great time was truly had by all. I'll write more later, but we just got back in town less than 3 hours ago, at 6am. Ughh. OK, later, Jeff

Very fun time. I can say that this is the best band trip I have ever taken. Looking forward to good times next year!

The rain didn't turn out to be too bad. At least the turf was artificial in the bowl as opposed to grass. :)

It was for sure awesome. I can truly say that there were only two things I liked better about the MCB-- the stadium itself, and the BG fan support. Other than that, the GMAC was amazing. The warm weather, the parade, the involvement from the whole town... holy cow. It was definitely an experience I'll never forget.
Heck, I even enjoyed the 20+ hour bus trip home! :P

Way to end the season, Falcons!!!!! :D :D :D

Like most of the time, I'm going to disagree with what you said :D I never excpected a non-professional stadium to compete with Ford Field and to me, the outdoor stadium kind of made the actual winter football experience into what it should be (without the snow though). I think the fan support we had was tremedous. I saw a couple thousand die hard fans that actually wanted to be there with the bad weather and the bad time of year! All of that made the GMAC bowl better than the MCB in my opinion!

Crazy trumpet player. Always disagreeing with what I don't even mean. :P

I guess I should have been clearer... By "stadium" I meant "scoreboard." lol The stadium itself was fine! And actually, I did like the normal bench seating better than the chairs we had at the MCB. So yeah. I didn't like the scoreboard/screen thingies. They sucked. And that was really all. I even enjoyed the rain, except that I resented not being able to play in the stands for part of the time.

And for sure, I loved having the diehard fans come to Mobile and scream their lungs out. I didn't mean that I was disappointed in the number of fans that were there! After the game, when we were on the field, I turned around in awe and said to whoever was listening, "Check it out... the Falcon faithful." --But having a huge crowd sends tingles up my spine.

I never would want to trade the GMAC for the MCB in a bajillion years! :D

The video screen thing upset me. All the logos are in color but the game is in black and white. I don't quite get that one but oh well! Seats or benches...doesn't matter! You should be standing the whole game anyways :D And I didn't find the woodwinds not playing too upsetting. It was a nice change for once actually!!

I didnt mind not playing either. I liked standing there, clapping my hands and cheering along with the songs. Besides, I'd rather do that then ruin my sax. (even if it doesnt cost all that much.. it's still an instrument).

I think the entire experience was awesome. The only thing that irked me was coming home and having my car not start. (Which, Metz, I am forever grateful to you for jumping it!)

I have tons of pics to post from Mobile, will post link later when I get them up. :D

EDIT: to further enforce what I did, I got this im from a friend

(20:45:10) friend: I saw you on TV during the bowl game.
(20:47:13) me: you did?
(20:47:15) me: really?
(20:47:16) me: :)
(20:47:24) me: how did I look? ;)
(20:47:56) friend: oh just great
(20:48:10) me: lol
(20:48:28) friend: Everyone was jumping around and raising their saxes and you were just clapping.
(20:48:41) me: AHAHAHA!!!
(20:48:48) me: That is because i was the only lazy sax who put their sax away!
(20:48:50) me: BWAHAHAHAHHA
(20:48:55) me: I rule
(20:49:06) friend: lol
(20:49:08) friend: yes, yes you do
(20:50:12) me: <G>
(20:50:40) friend: probably the only smart one. Afterall, rain is BAD for a sax
(20:51:51) me: exactly
(20:51:53) me: ;)

Hey, I do stand for the whole game, and yell at other members of my section for sitting down, so don't even pull that one!

And it wasn't just the video screen.... whoever was running the scoreboard itself wasn't very on top of things. It would take them forever to change which down the teams were on and the number of yards to go, and even then often it was wrong and they'd have to change it again. And I remember once, it showed that we were in possession for several minutes when Memphis had the ball! I can understand a little lag time, but that was ridiculous!

I loved the trip!! It was a great way to finish my career. Some of the best things though were the "unexpected" things that happened; i.e. percs doing cadences on 4 levels and then through the hotel, and the swimming in the rain (holy $hit that water was cold). It was a great trip. I wasn't too thrilled about the 20+ hour trip back, but thats also because on the 24th I had to get back into a car and drive to Michigan before returning home two days later :( . All and all, it was great, it's been great, and I hope the FMB continues to be great in the future!!!! Go Falcons!!!
