Upcoming Concerts

I know we have our fill of FMB talk here but I would like to extend an invitation to those interested in some of our other instrumental ensembles to come out Friday, January 21 at 8pm and hear the BGSU Symphonic Band perform on the BGSU New Band Music Reading Clinic. Guest conductors are James Croft and Frank Ticheli. Also on the following Saturday afternoon the Concert band will also be performing. Tickets are I believe $8 for the Friday night concert and Saturday's is free. Hope to see some of you there!

Colas Bruegnon Overture
His Honor march (Fillmore, I believe)
Tribute to Rudy Wiedoft (Jeff Heisler, Alto Sax soloist)
Some other March I can't think of
Fanfare for a Golden Sky (or something like that)
Maybe one or two more tunes...
Remember, we've had this music for just about 2 weeks of rehearsal, and we're just getting back to it. It should be a great concert, and I hope all of you can make it, Jeff

The other march is entitled Chimes of Liberty by Goldman. We're also playiing Who Puts His Trust in God Most Just, which was arranged for band and chorus by James Croft.

The most powerful musical experience I have ever had was at the concert of the sight reading clinic (it was the reading clinic of '88, I believe).
They played David Holsinger's The Deathtree from his Easter Symphony. The song ended. The applause didn't start for a full 2 minutes after Chief dropped his baton. Not a cough. Not a fidget. Not a russel of paper. I don't think anyone was even breathing.
It still gives me chills.
