Well... that's interesting... I wonder if they've got the extra money because Ryan's leaving.

Een-teresting. The colorguard is without an instructor-- sort of self-taught, yes? (Or have I just been really unobservant the past three years?) Has it always been that way, or if not, for how long, I wonder.

They don't have one but need one. When the flags move together, maybe I'll change my opinion. If you get upset at that comment, feel free to watch any show from past years...

They actually were looking for one last year too, but didn't find once since the opening came up so close to the start of the season. In the money they were alloted to keep Ryan last year was also money for the guard instructor, so I was told...

Haha, Metz, I couldn't agree with you any more than I already do. It's downright distracting when you see five girls with five different interpretations of flag work.

The color guard never had a director or choreographer. They relied on grad assts quite a bit in the past. That and many groups were self taught.

Just a note, I'm not slamming the guard or anything. They have some really talented people on the squad and I couldn't do what they do. I just think an instructor is something they could really benefit from...

I'd agree.... I think it would be really hard to choreograph and manage the colorguard just by yourself as an undergrad. They've done a good job under those circumstances, but I think having an instructor can only increase their potential.

It'll be interesting to see what the attitude of the guard is in the situation.

The guard as always needed a "unifying" force. I'm sure they sometimes don't feel a "part" of the FMB. Understandable, really.

Having a sponsor who is in touch and contact with the directors will help retention, spirit, and performance.

i have to agree...they're good under the circumstances, but their routines last year were all basicaly the same thing...in a different order...but i agree w/metzger too...i couldn't do it...i've tried...so props to them, i guess. but i think they need an instructor this year...maybe i'd keep down the drama *especially with that "hot" boy they picked up this year*

Oh no. Not you too. This was just about all I heard during the last couple of weeks while eating at the dial. "Did you here about the colorguard boy?" 'Nuf allready!

i've never seen the kid...but apparently he's a horny ball of fire...i get the feeling that's gonna cause a LOT of fights in the CG this season...good lord there was enough drama there last year WITHOUT a boy! lol...

Oh...and BTW...i was looking on blackboard today, and you're in my summer Ed Psych class!! I was excited!!

In order for our guard to improve, and consistantly get better they need some sort of instuctor/coach/mentor/whatever. While it might take some of the vets a while to adjust, I see this as only helping the guard.

What??? Drama in the FMB???? Never....

According to Kati, the guard boy is a riot. But, that's Kati; take it as you will.

And of COURSE there's never drama in the FMB. Never any griping, groaning, conspiracy theories, feuds, nasty rumors, pettiness, or badmouthing.

Well.... maybe you'd call it "sibling rivalry."
