what's on the musical menu for the '05 football season? I was working on the garage Saturday & Sunday and listening to a lot of FMB. It got me to wondering what we can look forward to!

At the end of last year, everyone in the FMB was allowed to submit their show ideas for this season. Ryan Nowlin was going to arrange whichever idea(s) got named the most but I do not think anyone really knows yet.

I do know a lot of people that wanted a Journey show though...me included!!!! :supz:

As soon as we know, we'll let you know.

One show is musically (and visually?) in the can; Ryan Mr. Nowlin is working on music for another one, according to Doc H two weeks ago. I couldn't get her to divulge what the shows were. Boo. ;)

Word on the street says that there's going to be a video game show this year.

Lets see how that pans out. A lot of that music is relatively stagnate, as its meant to be played on and on for hours..... Also, how enternaining/recognizable is most video game music anyways?

OK, thats all I know for right now. Jeff

Man, I really hope that they dont do a video game show... What happened to being a SHOW band. I mean, I enjoy the music selection the past couple years, but truthfully it's getting too corps-style ...

... and I'm not a huge fan of the new uniforms, it only perpetuates the non-show-band-ness.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I love what the FMB is wearing, except the shoes. They shold be white so you can follow them on the field, cheaters. And I want a stripe down the pants, more cheating. But enought from my marching and manuvering (sp?) execution judge personality. I think the FMB is doing an excellent job of music selection. With Frontiers we say a glimpse of the competitive band world. But the 9/11 show was classic show band. This is important to do each year. You have members from both marching band styles and as an educational institution you should expose your members to what they are not used to. And finally, you have to work on pre game!!!!! EVERY DAY

I played the Frontiers show - Freakin' sweet! I'm just kinda happy that I was still wearing the old uniform. I guess just wearing that old uniform made me kinda biased to it. But each to his own.

... and I agree with you on the stripes and shoes. Cheaters :D

Even I agree with that, and I was uniform chair last year.

I wish I understood all the nuances, but all I can say is that is I like what I've seen and heard that last several times I've watched the FMB. My greatest FMB-related disappointment was that you were unable to play at the Temple game last season.

Whatever the selections are for 2005, I'm betting it'll be a great show!

Well, not exactly in regards to what shows are going to be on the field but.....

I ran into Jason Sivil last night, and he said that he hasn't been contacted about writing any drill for the band this year at all, so I don't know if Hayward's going to be writing the drill or what, but its not Jason as of now.

Wow, that is interesting. Last year when I saw him at Polleyes he said this year was going to be his last most likely. Either way, as long as the FMB does a Journey show, I'll be happy! :D

Jeff said he was going to be writing some drill this season...not sure about Justine. I've tried (and failed) to figure out what some of the music is. I guess it's a surprise! In regards to rumors Carlson, I've heard that rumor too. It could be challenging...but c'mon, it's Ryan Nowlin...he's a genius...he'll figure out a way to write it so that we can do it.

How many days til Fundies?

I liked this. Our high school marching band is getting new uniforms later this year. The present marching band director did not design the last uniforms. They had stripes down the side of the pants. They had stripes around the wrists.

When he designed the new uniforms the director took out all stripes. The reason he said was for judging purposes. So I know where you are coming from.

He also went from Orange and Brown to Orange and Black. Orange top and Black pants.

This band director isn't at all affiliated with the BGSU Hockey program is he?
