I wish I could go. I actually once took a shower at the crew stadium when I was on tour with DCI with Pioneer, pretty nice locker rooms. I will be going to the Indy show and DCI finals in Boston. Good times,

When I lived around Columbus, I went to a couple of Crew games, but that is as close as I got to the field.

It is going to be a decent event. The performing corps are:
Blue Devils
Blue Knights
Capital Regiment
Glassmen
Spirit from JSU
The Cadets
Troopers
Yamato

I would kill to see the Devils live. Don't know Capital, Spirit, Troopers, or Yamato. Are they a different class?

i've seen the devils several times at the massillon show. good stuff. capital regiment is pretty bad, spirit of jsu is ok, the poopers are traditionally pretty terribly, and yamoto is almost all japanese or japanese american membership. they all have websites that you can reach from www.dci.org .

Man, I must really be out of the loop. I live in the Columbus area and had no idea.

Too bad I'm getting my wisdom teeth out that day. :(

that's only slightly less painful than seeing capital regiment and the poopers live.

The Troopers are from Casper, Wyoming. Long time ago they were very good but are not good now. I saw them last year in Allentown PA and they looked very young.

Spirit is from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. They are not the official marching band of the University but affiliated with it. Good recruiting move for the school.

I like Spirit. They did a show a couple years ago called time that I thought was very nice. The always come in the bottom part of the 12 at Championships.

Capital Regiment is from Columbus.

what happened to the Blue Coats?

Please keep in mind that I have been out of the DCI loop for 'bout 10 years.

The bluecoats are not going to be at that show, but they are tearing up the field this year and I hear their show is great. As of now, they are in 6th place overall according to bknights.org.

On a forum where the OSU marching band is praised, we have people saying that the troopers and cap reg are bad. Cap Reg has moved up from div 3 to div 1 in the course of 4 years and have remained competitive in division 1 over the last 3 years. Troopers have a rich history and are making some steps in the right direction. They recently hired Nick Angelis as the drumline caption head. He's the one from BLAST! that did the snare drum battle with Jeff Queen. When you're talking drum corps, nothing's bad. It may not be really clean, or a really great show idea, but the fundamental philosophy of excellence is for the most part throughout the idiom. All of these corps are worth seeing, it's a great experience to see corps like the devs from the west coast who have a long standing tradition of being really awesome. Also, the Massilon show is the night before the c-bus show, and the bluecoats will be there. Not that it probably matters to anyone on here, but they have beat the devs in drums every time they have seen them this year. Former Cavaliers caption head Mike McIntosh has really turned them around. So if anyone on here is free, get out and see some shows. If you can catch the Scouts this year, they are amazing as well.

I don't know if I would say "nothing" is bad in DCI, but I do like that style. I however will be at a camp that week, which sucks.

Yamamoto is apparently not going, but bandettes are. www.bandettes.org

drumcorpsplanet.com has some neat stuff with rankings and all. I have a friend who has got me re-interested in DCI.

I remember seeing the Midwest finals at the Glass Bowl 1994, I believe was the year. Scouts, Phantom, Glassmen.

Phantom is my fav just because they ooze class.

I will never forget the Scouts' entry. They lined up on the goal line sideline to side line. They marched a line - and I mean a PERFECT LINE - to the 50. Once they hit the 50, they broke the line and formed the insignia of the Scouts. WOW! They had a latin show show which didn't thrill me. It should have been a bit better IMHO.

Phantom's Show was Songs For a Summer Night. That was the first and last time, in my adult life, when I ever wet my pants.

That was the year Glenn Toumalla(sp) had his own corp (div III I think). Love him or hate him, he did very well with that group that year.

I'll be going to Indy or Columbus, hopefully. I already saw Michigan City and Charleston this year. Glassmen have a pretty awesome show this year, it is certainly better than last years. I saw the Cavies in open rehearsal, and though they are predictably awesome, their show isn't that well written. I think that the Scouts have a legitimate shot at the championship this year. Their show is incredible, and they have hung with the Cavies consistently, even beating them once.

Aw, come on. It's not fair to bash these groups just because they don't appear on finals night. They work just as hard as any other corps. Also, Capital Regiment beat Spirit last year, finishing 13th in the world.
