Thanks for the compliment! Sorry we all looked so grubby and gross.... we'd just finished marching pregame two or three times over on the practice fields.

Oh, and your daughter is adorable! :D

Did you get those seats we saw across the way, D?? Great seeing you today. :-)

I saw a couple of girls with tenor sax's walking towards that end of the field, but I didn't realize they were going to play. Wish we'd have all been entertained by the squadleaders... :-(

I didn't even notice you guys' grubbiness! Remember, I went through band camp for five years! Ahhh, good times....

Ohiogal, it was nice to meet the first female drum major of the FMB. :D I enjoyed playing for you guys for the time that I was there (I'm the one who ran out at the beginning of "Shake a Tailfeather"- I'm doing much better now, hehe). And I agree with Emily- your daughter is so cute!!

Thank you so much for the compliments on my daughter! My husband and I still want to know who her parents are! ;)

I'm glad you're feeling better and it was nice to see the DM take your spot!

I drove by the band tonight on my way home (on Poe Rd). What a huge band! Sure wish I could have heard you... and I can't believe they let you park on the grass??? oh... my... god... we would get in trouble for even WALKING on the grass if it wasn't in the marching field!

Can't wait to see you guys every home game!

I guess they figure it would be too ridiculous to have 50-some off-campus students all traipsing over to the band field from the ice arena lot at 4 every day... so they make a 2-hour daily exception to the rule.

And thank goodness for that!! There are a lot more people driving to campus this year; I went to park at the ice arena yesterday at 11, and it was full!! I had to drive around and park on the side of the building where the a-band entrance is!!

How about the university spends money for more commuter parking instead of buying the entire freshman class t-shirts that will end up sitting in the bottom of their drawers all year?

My lands - what more do you want? The parking lot on the east side of the football stadium is almost vacant (maybe 6 or 7 vehicles out there). Park there, grab the shuttle from the Visitors Center. I never understand the complaint about no parking being available on campus when I see an empty lot.

There's usually ample parking behind the Health Center. The lot by Offenhauer is pretty much only for 8/8:30 classes. Also, after 5 you can park in any Staff lot except lot's C and S.

The lot you're talking about is for on-campus residents, not commuters.

Commuters can park out there and not get ticketed. Call Parking Services. They'll confirm it.

transfer is talking about lot 20 (at least I think that is the lot number) It's the lot right next to Alumni Dr/Cambell Hill. Lot 6 Overflow is the next lot over.

No. I'm talking about the big vast empty space due East of the football stadium. Parking services will not ticket a vehicle in that parking lot if they have a parking pass - commuter or residential (the parking officer would probably keel over if he realized students were actually parking in that lot and maybe then we could get it paved).

Better not be parking in Lot 20 or you'll get a ticket.

Now - get out to Marching Band practice!

The last word I would use to describe the parking lot behind the health center is "ample." You have to follow people to their cars like a predator stalking its prey to get a spot there after 9am. The Offenahuer lot fills up long before people start parking by the ice arena, and every time I've checked it for parking it has been full.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything. I'm just saying that my parking experiences have been drastically different than yours.

Oh, and regarding transfer's comment about the commuter lot next to overflow, that lot isn't much closer to campus than my apartment, and I don't like to depend on the shuttles. They are theoretically supposed to be seven minutes apart, but in reality they get off-schedule while dealing with other traffic and can be up to 15 minutes apart. I'm not comfortable having such little control over such a variable situation.

Luckily, the new commuters haven't figured out where the broken meters are yet, so I can still manage to occasionally snag a metered spot by the frat houses before 10am. 8)
