Here's your uniform, Delaine!

There's absolutely no question about it. Only thing to do is backbend or move out of the way and let someone younger take over.

Unfortunately, this old one doesn't own enough stock in bengay.... we'll see if Mark can talk me into it... as for the youngers 'taking over' how come none ever show up???

Woah, definitely meant to type "gotta SHOW these youngin's"....anyway!
That's a good question;I don't know where all the old DMs are. I was only a squad leader, so I'm not qualified to backbend!

I don't think most of the previous drum majors held the position for.... what, four years?
And they don't fling maces thirty feet in the air, either.

I have no idea why other DM's don't come back. I have it on good authority that once Melinda Dolence (dont' remember her married name now) moves back to Dayton, she will make a trip to homecoming. She misses Ohio quite a bit.
Now, I don't know if she's going to march mello or march DM. I told her the last time I talked to her that she has a LOT of catching up to do with being alumni DM.
How many DMs have their been since 1992 (Delaine and my last year of holding that position)?

I remember when I lived in Awful Towers (junior and first senior year), I was practicing my tosses on the raised green just to the east of the East Tower. Folks came down from the 8th floor and told me that my tosses were even with their window.
I told Paula that this may be the first year without back bend. We'll see how I feel on Saturday.

To be fair, I think the reason the more recent DMs don't do cool things like lots of mace tricks, etc. is simply because they don't know how. Someone has to teach them and there's no one around anymore that could do that. It sucks, but it seems to be the case.
For what it's worth, I'm going to be really sad if there is no bending of backs on Sat!

I knew there was a
thread way back with some kind of explanation about that. And whaddaya know, as so often happens, I was right!
Incidentally, Brian and Heather were practicing some kind of mini twirl/toss sequence or other, last week.
[flattery]Not nearly as impressive as you alumni, though...[/flattery]

Yep, I was channeling that thread as I was typing.
Anyway...hey! RUIT and Ohiogal- why aren't you two stretching?!
