The FMB sounded great yesterday!

Good show, great energy and attitudes. Nice job all around FMB!

Now, if next year for homecoming, we could NOT stick the alumni band and all their guests in that little sliver of a section that probably seats 60 ppl tops :?

Sorry to the maggots as well. We were told when we ran out of room, to sit in the top row behind the student band because it would be totally empty. That didn't sound right to us, but we listened and did it anyway. Sure enough, the maggots needed that top row as always. We tried our best to squeeze out of the way. That's my only gripe and hopefully the alumni band board learned from that and will fight a little harder for better placement next year. Everything else about yesterday was awesome.

From what I could gather, it seemed like there was some confusion about people sitting where the band was supposed to? Not sure.... but it makes sense, since we were in the endzone last year. Sorry you were so smushed, but glad you came! (And thanks for the compliments!)

You guys did sound great!! Students all around me were taking about the FMB sounding amazing but the music isn't a good choice. A bunch of them were saying how great Western's band was last year based on that whole music style thing. It's just weird for me to hear everyone around me saying they want to get up and leave while you are all on the field but don't because they don't want to lose their seats. I'm not used to negative comments about the band I guess.

Either way, I mentioned the hip-hop show and they all got excited. Personally, you all did a fantastic job playing and marching!

Band was great yesterday!!!!!!

Wish that rendition of the Revenge of Sith theme went a little longer. :D

There may have been a little confusion at first, but there were about 80 marching alumni and their family members were allowed to sit in the section as well. So yeah...it was tight  It was just pretty crappy seating in general. Those of us who stayed for the second half couldn't see or hear what the DM's were calling up, so it was hard to get into playing much during the half.
I don't want to over do it and make it sound like it ruined the experience or anything. It wasn't THAT big of a deal. I just hope they don't put us there again in the future.

Otherwise, homecoming was just as fun as usual. It's always nice to see people from your era come back for the first time. I got to see a few that I haven't talked to since graduating.

*shakes head and laughs*

You can never please everyone with the music choices. When we actually do the hip-hop show, I'm sure we'll irritate other people.

Glad students thought the FMB sounded good, though. That's all you can really hope for a consensus on.

Halford and my families had to sit 15 rows ABOVE the falcon marching band next to a girl that kept gushing about how wonderful twirlers are and how she wants to be a twirler (we could see them practicing in the green). I was a bit upset just because Paula (Mark's wife) and my husband were there early but weren't allowed to sit down in the stands... but then once the alumni got off the field, the stands filled with other family members? so, yeah, I was a bit upset about that. Made it difficult to mix and mingle with old friends.

the Chili at the Headly's house was GREAT! It was nice to see people (Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, Bonnie Bess, Dr. Moss, Ms. Hayward and others) all there. Good times to be had by all!

And by the way, the FMB looked and sounded fantastic! Keep up the great work!

No worries. It worked out in the end and we didn't hurt any of you old people getting to our spots.
It was great to play with you all.

Well, regarding the seating issue, hopefully by next year the Sebo Center will be far enough along in the building stages that the built-in concrete stands will be available for use that are to replace the late end zone stands. There will be PLENTY of room for alumni and families there!! :)

It was definitely a good idea to move the band to the end zone stands. Too bad they were torn down right after we moved over there!! :P

If I were in the band I'd start a rebellion and refuse to play until they kill the obnoxious canned music that comes out of that overpriced excuse for a jumbotron at the south end of the Doyt.

What a disgrace. I'd rather hear the FMB -- why do we need both. I vote for the FMB. Let's cut the wire to that south-end menace. It would solve two problems, the loud music and an announcer who hasn't a clue.

I don't think a playing boycott would go over, or have the desired effect, but....

I'll bring the bolt cutters

My advice is for the college kids to send letters to the editor in the BG news... and the rest of us letters in the Sentinel.... that might help.
