videos and tapes needed

If anyone has videos of 1988-1992 I'd love to have copies of them... We lost our house and almost all posessions on Thursday night. The only Falcon stuff I 'saved' were the 1991 and 1992 tapes that were in my car (no jackets for the, however). So, I'd be willing to pay to have someone make copies of the videos and the tapes/jackets so that I can still have those memories.

Thanks so much!

Hey- is everybody ok? Is there anything else that we can do? That is just horrible.

We are all OK. I did lose my three cats as they were in the basement where the fire started. They didn't have a chance.
Gwen and I just pulled in the driveway in time to see my husband run out of the smoke-filled garage. But he was OK...

We'll find out Monday if they will gut the house or tear it down... the basement and first floor will be gutted but don't know about the two bedrooms upstairs.

We have a lot of family and friends here in BG for support so it's been great that way. There's a lot of sentimental stuff gone.... EVERYTHING of my daughter's has to be thrown away as the smoke residue is toxic to her. Our pictures, computers... all gone.

I know it's just stuff, but it was some of the comfort stuff that I'll miss. And seeing my kitties... just broke my heart. The fireman that brought them out stayed by me the entire time I was with them. He even got something to transport them out... I burried them at my parents' house...

But I think I can save my trumpets and my mace... the trumpet cases will have to be tossed and I'll have to see if anyone around here can do an acid cleaning? I think that's what they'll need.

There will be so much to do once the numbness wears off. I hope none of you ever have to go through this...

Delaine, You have the 88'-92' coming in CD form. I just have to convert the tapes over.

OMG Delaine, that's terrible! If there's anything I can do at all, just let me know. Even if it's something as simple as taking you and your family to dinner sometime to get away for a bit.

I can take a look at the horns for you and see what I can do with them. I can do an acid bath, but will have to see them first to see if that would do any good.

Getting the show videos from 91-95 is on my 'to do' list. Actually, it has been for awhile now  If I ever get that taken care of, I'll get you 91 and 92.

So sorry to hear about this!! How awful!! We are thinking of you and your family. Regarding your horn, you could also try Rettig Music in Toledo. They will do restoration. They took BGFan's old horn and had it completely re-plated(or something like that). It looked brand new when he got it back! Take it in to them and see what they could do and how much it would cost. I think insurance could cover it. How did the fire start???? ...wow, just glad you and your family are ok.

Wow-- as everyone else has said, I'm glad you and your family are all right. What an awful thing to happen. :(

thank you all so much

I pulled out my trumpets today. The cases are smoke damaged, but otherwise, the trumpets are OK. I'll just want to clean them to make sure... and then buy new cases. One is a coronet that my mom used in HS. It's a PAN AM? I think... from the 1930s... I hate to throw the case away, but I think I'll have to.
My mace just needs a good bath... and I did find two VHS marching band tapes that weren't melted into a big blob... but don't know if they work? I'll find out later...

We don't know how the fire started. The flourescent lights? The computer monitor? the candle? The fire guys have no idea. I talked to a childhood friend of mine tonight that was one of the guys that fought the fire. He said they really couldn't tell.

My basement looks like charchole... and big blobs of melted plastic. And in the midst of all that darkness I found pictures of my daughter... of marching band... my grandmother's photoalbum... UNTOUCHED. I was amazed... and humbled.

I saw where my cats died and where my daughter played. One room is totally untouched... no soot or anything.... the rest of the house is a loss. We might be able to save some stuff... but not all.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I pulled my marching band jacket out... it was luckily in the garage so it's not that damaged... I think it could be dry cleaned! yeah! but that orange one we have to wear? Well, I'll have to buy a new one!

I will keep you all posted!

Ohiogal,

You have my thoughts and sympathies! I can't imagine what you are going through. I'm glad to hear that everyone is alright, and I hope that you can get back to normal as soon as possible.

That is pretty incredible. Photos are some things that couldn't really be replaced.

Oh God - that's horrible. My thoughts are with you and your family right now. And I agree with able - we can all go to dinner just to hang out, all us old and young bandos... It's the least we can do. Where is/was the house?

The house is in BG on Conneaut.

Dinner, friends, laughter will be welcomed after we've been able to clear the soot out of our eyes and lungs... I don't know when we'll have time to just sit and relax again... hopefully we'll get the rest of the stuff out of the house by next weekend to see what can be salvaged.

And I know we'll feel better once we get the chance to move into our own place again... I kinda feel like I'm home on a holiday or like you feel when you're home on summer break; it's home, but it's not home...

But we're thankful.

Oh that's awful!!! So sorry to hear about that. If Mark can't hook you up, I have VHS tapes of 1986-1989, so I could help you out with 2 of the years you want, just let me know!

So glad to hear my brothers and sisters are coming to help out on Sat! I would be there too if I could, but I'm graduated and gone unfortunately. They are definitely a great bunch of people and I'm sure they'll be a huge help. I hope things are getting better for you and your family, good luck tomorrow!
