OK, note to the a-band director during the BG/UT game... playing AyZig so fast that you can't hear the individual notes anymore is just not good. People around me at the game, non music people, were saying "OK... just shut up" once things sped up to ultra-mush levels.

The a-bands sound great at the basketball games thus far this season! I've been impressed. The over-tempo-izing of AyZig being my only complaint.

It does get kind of silly at times. In part I think we do it because the director has decided that "Okay, from now until play starts again, we'll play Ay-Zig... whoops, this is taking longer than I thought... but it'll be boring if we just do it over and over at the same tempo..."

In part because, you know, it's fun to try to play things fast.

And partly, I think because the grads take a sadistic enjoyment in seeing panic in band members' eyes.

Yes, ridiculously fast ay-zig is both taxing and annoying. But, I must restate what I have said in a previous forum.

Certain trumpet players(I do not honestly know which ones) that play Ay-Zig in the middle of Go BG! If you want to make your own arrangement, then go right ahead. However, I don't think that's what Mr. Marini had in mind.

Just puttin it out there!

BACK WHEN I WAS IN BAND.... lol

We would play Can't Turn You Loose way faster than we should have... I'm pretty sure 41 seconds was the record. It must just be one of those things. Really though... if it's going to go until play starts... have some fun with it. Slow it WAY down immediately or something. Don't make it sound like crap. ;-)

We do that sometimes, too. No worries. But the grad who was directing us on Sunday was the new one this year, and he's still kinda getting used to things, methinks.

I can honestly say I would rather have fast ay zig than the hubert toney jr lets go so slow the tuba player falls asleep in the corner of the arena and the flutes actually have enough time to find the right note by the end of the song version

Without. I believe we were a little less than a minute with the repeats. And it was CLEAN!

Okay, okay. To quote the percs' and maggots' homecoming yell, "We know, we know. You were better."
