Racketeers - used to get a "six-pack" of Boone's Farm Kountry Kwencher. Worst. Hangovers. Ever.

Racketeers...my fave carryout. My JR year I lived right down the tracks on Lehman and we used to walk down the tracks and pick up suitcases of Milwaukee's Best & Best Light for $4.99 per case. Down a case and then hit the bars.

My SR year I lived on E Merry so it was just a few blocks up the tracks. I should have had one of those manual rail cars to ride up and down the tracks instead of stumbling...I mean walking.

In the fall of 1989, E Merry Mania, a bunch of people were pushing a boxcar up and down the tracks. Thankfully, I was too drunk to want to go do that or I may have ended up under the damn thing. I can still see a few guys jumping up and down on the top of the boxcar while others pushed it. The cops showed up but there were sooooooooooo many people in that area that they basically gave up and left.

I keep telling Mrs. Freak there is plenty of time for me to get my Master's.

Actually SOP (some other place) was where the Junction is now. 10 cent beer night on Sunday night started of my week off. No wonder I was on the 5 plus year graduation program. Wasn't the Alpine where Trotters is now-they had bucket beer night.

What was the exact name of the old restaurant in front of the Falcon Best Western? Wasn't it TJ Valentine's or something? VERY good sammiches.

Casey's Old Fashioned Hamburgers. Same thing as Wendy's but much better. It was owned by an old exec of Wendy's. He continued the old recipes.

Mark, my very first job, other than at my dad's store DORSEY'S DRUGS (where all of you have forgotten to mention and I KNOW you bought your condoms there...) was at TJ Valentines. I had a table of 8 and I spilled all their drinks on one person. Wow. I don't think I lasted very long there.

I remember picking my brother DEAN up at DINOs after his high school baseball games. Drinking age was 18 then. I remember shopping at JCPenny and the kids section was upstairs. I'd hide in the racks and freak my mom out.

I still remember back-to-school shopping at Ullmans.

The BEST bakery in the world was Peterson's. Best. Smiley. Face. Cookies. Ever.

Dan/Pete Peterson was my kindergarten phys ed teacher. I now drink with him. Wiered.

Chip from DQ still knows me. I remember when the juke box was still there... we'd all walk there after the Jr. High dances. good times. good times.

I lived on Reed street by the tracks before they blocked it off. A friend of mine lived in the trailer park accross from Off. Towers.

I worked for three years at the Tanning Center. It's still there. I was there when it sold ice cream.

I worked at Powel's Ice Cream when the mall opened.

I also remember East Merry Maddness and Manville Maddness. I think I went with my parents to pick up my older siblings.

I remember the OLD library and how I didn't like the new one when it was built. I still refer to it as the 'new' library.

The Gigolo Bar - burned down. Two or three doors to the south of Pisanello's on Main st.

Downtown Bar was The Redwood with the Elks above (Uptown). Court st. section was a number of places prior to Downtown. Sound Associates was there at one time (home stereo shop)

Crankers had good breakfast (old location - South Main)

The Alpine ---> Long Branch ----> Trotters

Metamorphosis - head shop located a few shops north of Finder's

In 1972, the only 24hr. restaurants were east on route 6 about 3 miles or west on R6 (truck stop places).

Centre Market at Wooster St. shopping center.

Eunies on South Main.

How about Lum's, in the strip mall across from the stadium and the Holiday Inn (not Express) where Day's Inn is now. Holiday Inn was a "hot" place for awhile in the 70"s with bands etc on weekends.
Lum's was also a good hangout for beer and dogs. The Saints hung out there, when they had training camp in BG.

Lum's - forgot that one. There was a Lum's in Columbus on High Street open 24 hours. Beer at 5:30 am!
