South Side 6 Commercial

Post by BGSU - Ventura »

Does anyone remember the commercial from the late 90's early 00's that always seemed to be on for South Side 6 Convenience Mart? It had steel drum music and three guys dressed up in wigs "dancing" through the store? Does it still air? I must've seen it 2,000 times while I went to BG and it always made me laugh.

I have been trying to find this commercial online for awhile now and was hoping somebody would post it to YouTube. If it still airs or you happen to have it on video, please post it somewhere that we can see it and laugh like the drunken idiots that we were.

Wow, I had almost completely blocked that commercial from my mind. Thanks a lot for refreshing it.

It aired while I was there; graduated in '06.

That commercial haunted both my dreams and waking thoughts. Let us never speak of this again. Ever.

LMAO... I'm sure I've seen it as recently as the past 6 months. I've got to have it on tape somewhere. If I ever come across it, I'll be sure to grab it and put it up on YouTube.

The original was from a while back. I think they updated it a year or two ago after they added all the hot food (gyros, fries, whatever else they have). I think the second version only had two goofy dudes. Maybe I'm mistaken.

The owner lives two houses down from me. I could ask him to put it back on the air if you want.

During my last visit to BG, I was saddened to notice that Racketeers was no longer. It's probably been gone for many years, but I never noticed it. An integral part of my BG experience!

That's what I thought. The original with the whole line of guys was hilariously bad. (Regardless, I think that one stayed on the air for a good 6 or 7 years before the remake.)

What no more Racketeers?

I guess it was always one of those places I only went when I was hanging with people around that particular area. Still another little piece of my old BG slipping away. I do hold my old alchohol purveyors in a special place in my heart.

No more Racketeers? Ah, that sucks! I did make a stop in there during Homecoming of '05. Not a thing had changed. The same owner was there and we chatted for a bit. I would actually play pool with him at the Brauthaus occassionally back-in-the-day. Oh, the memories.
