My roommate called me a bit ago and told me a firetruck ran into Rodgers. This email just came over the campus update listproc and I figured I'd share it as I found the whole situation entertaining since no one got hurt...

Situation under control at Rodgers, Phi Kappa Tau

There was a small grease fire in the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity chapter
house earlier this afternoon. In responding to the fire call, the city
fire truck unexpectedly moved forward and struck the Mechanical Room
adjacent to Rodgers Hall, creating a gas leak and damaging the
building's facade.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

The gas leak has now been stopped and students will be allowed back
into the building as soon as city emergency officials give the all-clear.

Residence Life staff will remain in the vicinity of the building to
keep students updated on the situation until the city gives the
all-clear and then will be checking in with students throughout the
evening.[/b]

From my understanding, which is a Ferris Bueller-esque "my best friend's sister's boyfriend heard from a guy who knows this kid that used to date" chain of information, the firetruck was not put in park and just rolled right into the NE corner of the building. I saw for myself several hours later, it was interesting, to say the least.

Felt bad for those who lived there though....They got everyone out of their on such short notice, I had classmates who couldn't get at assignments they needed to turn in, a guys without shirts....what a mess...
