Thought about posting this on the hockey section because of the obvious link, but I decided to put it here.
As we all know, so many great programs are threatened by the current budgetary hard times. Canadian Studies is one of these.
As a faculty member, my career has been aided tremendously by the existence of the Canadian Studies Center at BGSU. I love teaching the Canadian Government and Politics course, and much of my research into the relationship between popular culture and politics has had a Canadian focus. The Canadian government has provided me with grants to develop the course and pursue research, and they even helped get me to Poland on the Fulbright, and are helping me to return soon for more teaching.
So there, I have shared why Canadian Studies is really important to me. Anyone else have any fond memories of Canadian Studies courses or activities they'd like to share?
Thanks!

I took your Canadian government class my junior year becuase Sara Kaminski told me you were her favorite teacher and I would love the class. She was 100% correct. My favorite memory (and I could be fuzzy on the details) of that class is when you had the fromer premier of one the of plains provinces (I think it was Alberta, but could be wrong). I dont know why he was there or how you knew him, but you told the class to make sure to ask him about his great achievement of universal car insurance.
The fact that he was there was great. The fact that you made the class excited about insurance was even better. It made me wish I had taken more classes with you. Hopefully the program can make it through this tough period.

I took the intro Canadian Studies course my junior year with Professor Mancuso and really enjoyed it. One of my favorite classes at BGSU. It was just a fun class and I thought the subject matter, especially around Government and the Bloc Quebecois issues was pretty fascinating. I hope the University is able to still offer it.
