New Athletics Website

Post by BillyLP »

Just opened up yesterday I believe. It seems a lot less cluttered than the last one. I hated even going to the old site because there was just wayy too much going on with it. This seems a lot more organized and easy to get around.

Thoughts?

It's going to take A LOT of growing on me. It is somewhat easier to navigate, but it's WAY too generic-feeling. We spent how much on rolling out new logos and fonts a couple years ago and now the banner on our web site is a standard Windows font?

The team pages are slightly better than the front, but other than the logo, there's nothing that says what site you're on in the masthead/banner.

Content is the most important thing, of course, and some of the social media stuff they're pushing is welcome (more blogs, Twitter, etc.). But the first impression for me isn't too favorable.

Yeah, why aren't they using the "official" BGSU Font? I noticed that right away!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Delete your cookies, and then try again. Your internet browser must still have an old copy of the site saved that it is using to load the page. Or, change your cookies settings so that the browser looks for a new version of the page a little more often. You should see a scrolling new window at the top leftish part of the page, with five stories, the first of which is Paluch stepping down.

I like it lots better. The old site reminded me of the billboards along the road when driving through an indian reservation.

I hated the old sites ticket experience. This one seems to be set up much better and easier to get to the information needed. I'll hold out final judgment until I buy tickets after August 10.

Is there a Search function anywhere on the new site? I can't find one.

Minor issue with the new athletics website - the photo galleries from the old recaps no longer work.

The reason I'm concerned about this is a number of my softball photos were used as the gallery for a game back in '07 and I had posted the link on my on-line portfolio as an example of my photography skills.

I'd like to try to see if they're planning to fix those links because I'd like to update my portfolio. Also, it seems that's one of the folders I lost when my computer crashed last year, so I'm without copies of my photos (I've since gotten an external HD to back them up).

Anyone know who to contact on the issue? I haven't been able to find a contact or support link on the site.
