I wasn't aware that commons was getting tore down. I graduated last December but still get campus updates to my BG account and noticed this little surprise in the daily update.

"In addition, construction will begin soon to install a new steam and water line to Kohl Hall
in preparation for the demolition of Commons, scheduled to begin early next year.'

Anyone have any information on what is going to go there then?

I don't think anything will be replacing it, but I'm not entirely certain. I think they are just removing the building and deeming it as unneeded and out-of-date. Again, don't quote me on that.

Actually, a new dining facility will be replacing the Commons. Look for something similar to what is going up over at Mac.

Will this new dining facility be located in the same exact location as where the Commons is (or was) when it's removed?

Commons - Thursday night beer blasts with 3.2% kegs for $.50 per glass.

Does anyone know when Commons is going to start coming down? I was past it a few weeks ago and it looked pretty empty and there was fencing and work going on around it.

The occupants are either all moved out, or will be moving out over break. BGSU police and Parking and Traffic will be relocating to College Park in North campus.

Subject: Power outage tomorrow for Commons project

Preparations are under way for the demolition of the Commons facility.

Power to Memorial Hall will be temporarily interrupted from about 5 p.m. tomorrow
(Thursday, Jan. 6) until about midnight.

On Monday, Jan. 10, fencing will be installed around the perimeter of the Commons site, and
demolition of the building will begin soon thereafter. Please use caution when in the area,
and expect some dust and noise from the activity.

The new steam line supplying heat and hot water to Kohl Hall was completed over winter
break, and the Campus Police and Parking Services offices have been relocated to College
Park.

Construction of the new, 17,000-square-foot Commons dining facility will begin the early
part of this year.

You can see the Common construction on the South Central Dorm cam, the building is over half gone now. It also looks like they have left some the mature trees that were around Commons still standing which was good to see. I really dislike when they come in and just clear everything out.

On an unrelated note, the new dining facility will be completely constructed out of two month old Johnny Marzetti.

I may be dating myself, but does anyone remember how kick ass the hot fudge sundaes were from the Amani Room?
