Passing of Dr. Bruce Klopfenstein

Post by bgsufn »

Got this in my email this afternoon. RIP Dr. Bruce!
Dear TCOM alumni:

It is with great sadness that I would like to let you know Dr. Bruce Klopfenstein, a 1979 TCOM/RTVF alum and TCOM Department Chair of BGSU from 1991-97 passed away on Feb 8. Below is more info.

From Kelli Kling, Current President of TCOM alumni advisory board: "Financial contributions can be sent to Bruce's brother, Kraig Klopfenstein, at 6119 Sharon Cr, Urbandale, Iowa, 50322. Funds will be used towards medical expenses for his daughter, Isabelle (10), and towards college funds for his other daughter, Lydia (14). I am not sure the condition of Isabelle, but I understand her illness to be long-term, probably something she has lived with since birth or for many, many years."

His brother told me diabetic coma, but I'll learn more on Friday when I attend the service in Georgia. He will be cremated and no viewing hours.

Very sad. He was my best friend (mentor, dissertation advisor, best man at my wedding). He will be missed.

53 years old. That sucks. He was a great guy.

Absolutely. Had a few RTVF classes with him and he was always pretty cool. 53 is way too young. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family.
