I read an interesting article the other day that I wanted to past on and see your thoughts.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/2 ... ostpopular
It basically highlights the corporate control of the board of trustees @ Virginia.
As someone connected to OSU I have seen this with limited understanding with the perceived influence of Wexner and the recent privitazation of our parking. Looking around I found this article
http://www.osu.edu/news/newsitem3439
It talks about Wexner leaving and his replacement. Then talks about 2 persons added to the board of trustees. 1 is a BGSU grad who I had never heard fo before and who seems to have no ties to OSU (but is certainly very corporate). The other is a student from Bowling Green who attends OSU for engineering.
I wondered how this corporatization/privitazation affects BG and if anyone else finds it curious that one of our alums is on OSU's board.
I don't have a real stand on this other then it feels kind of off to not have persons with an educational background making education decisions.

Being a member of the Board of Trustees is POLITICS and $$$$$$ (remember Tom Noe?)Globetrotter wrote:....and if anyone else finds it curious that one of our alums is on OSU's board.
Cheryl Krueger worked for Les Wexner and The Limited while she was starting Cheryl's Cookies. She has lived in Columbus almost since she graduated from BG (in the mid-70's).
My guesses would be - Les Wexner recommended her to Governor Kasich and that she donated a decent amount of $$$$$ to his campaign.
I believe she served on the BGSU Board of Trustees at one time.
