Here is what's going on. I am a student at Bowling Green Firelands branch, as my username implies. I have been here for three years now, and I am transfering to main campus in the Fall of '05. I have over 60 credit hours or something like that, so I am considered a Junior. I am going to stay in a dorm for next fall, maybe the spring too. I was wondering what dorm to stay in though. I am looking at Conklin, but I am not for sure which dorms were good. I also didn't know if they desginated certain dorms to be Freshman dorms and Sophomore dorms. If anybody could help me out with some information I would be extremely thankful!

What is your major, and what classes are you looking at taking. From what I have heard, Conklin is a good dorm, but it is only really close to the Arts Building. Also, if memory serves me, Conklin is mostly underclassmen, Freshmen and Sophomores. Don't know if that would sway your decision at all, but it's something good to know.

I think Founders is a little more evenly dispursed. The suites are pretty nice.
Personal experience, I liked kriescher quad (Compton and Darrow). they had a decent number of upper classman. It is right across from the Rec center, which I liked, and closer to football field, ice arena and fieldhouse compared to the other dorms. Its kind of far from some of the class room buildings, but who really needs to be on time for class. The cafeteria at Kreischer was pretty good too. Good luck finding a dorm.

McDonald is the only "freshman" residence hall on campus. Otherwise, it really depends on what you want.

If you're looking for the best of the "cheap" halls, I'd recommend Rodgers. Good location (central to most everything), just got new electrical wiring and furiture for all the rooms this year. The rooms are big and the staff is nice -- but it's an old(er) building. I lived there for three years, one of those as an RA.

If you're wanting a single, there's a nice quiet community for juniors and seniors over in Harshman Anderson. Rodgers singles are nice. Offenhauer singles may have the air conditioning, but are TINY.

Founders is a nice place, but lacks a strong community in my opinion. It sure is convenient with the suites in there...and with the food court just downstairs. If you want to pay the extra to get a room in there go for it.

Conklin is okay, and it does have A/C...but I'd rather live in Rodgers. Conklin seems to have a pretty good share of "characters" living there.

Offenhauer is nice, has A/C, and quiet. Not much "community" though.

Be leary of Kohl hotter than heck in there.

Rodgers for several reasons:

Big windows that let in a wonderful breeze in breezy BG.
EVERYTHING was replaced this past summer. Carpet, bunks, dressers, desks, everything.
The rooms are larger than the quads or Mac.
You pay the same rate that you would in the quads or Mac.
They are traditionally upperclassmen dorms so you don't have to deal with stupid, abnoxious freshmen... Only obnoxious sophomores.
Great community; doors open, people socializing...
My brother will be there and he needs a roommate.
