Does anyone watch or moderate this board anymore?

I’ve considered creating a new site that would basically be an updated copy of this site. Would hate to lose the history here, but there’s gotta be better management with some growth. If folks here would be interested I’ll look more into it.

I'll follow wherever the people on here go. Like you said, losing the history would suck - but I'd rather go somewhere new than have nowhere at all. Talking BG sports is the best - this community means something to me. Even you, guest44 and TommyG.

Okay, I'm going to look into it more over the next few weeks and report back. There are tons of host sites where BG is unclaimed as a brand (247Sports is the big one), but I really like the idea of it being independently owned and run like this one is.

If it helps, I'll commit to turning on ads on whatever new board we migrate to (except CSN) and I'll even click on a few ad links

The big advantage of CSNbbs is that a board is set up right now for BGSU, all ready to go. I suspect if an active group were there, the owner would work with that core group to customize it as needed, designate mods, or whatever.

But if someone is willing to set up a new board, that could be good, too.

Someone give me the history of CSNbbs and tell me why people don't like it.

I've seen it, and it looks kinda crappy (I know that's where Toledo hosts their board, so that's automatically strike one for me), but I'd go anywhere to talk BG sports with you guys.

My opinion: CSN only provides basic functionality (no embedding for example) which makes sense as they have hundreds (thousands?) of users and that makes it easier to manage. It's a glorified text editor and barely above what you'd find on a Discord server. AZZ has more features and it's still a bare bones platform.

Miami has a pretty good one, I have no idea what the costs are: https://miamihawktalk.fans/

Correct the majority of issues are around the lack of moderation although some updates would be welcomed. Right now the home page has 13 people on this site. 3 are registered including the Google ad bot and 10 guests. I'm sure not all of them want to register but that's a lot of people that could be contributing to the community. I always see a handful of guests during games.

Also with the lack of moderation/ownership we have no idea if or when this website gets shut down. The website could not get renewed or it crashes and its not worth it to fix

Whenever I see this thread come up, I always think the owner of the board has finally commented. Never happens and it's sad. I think people are slow to jump to CSN or any other board is because this is our own site. This is the one site that is strictly about BGSU. It has been home for many of us for 20+ years. Hard to let that go.

Just an FYI, I have looked into this pretty extensively, but got delayed with a new job and cross country move. My conclusion is that the simplest solution would be to buy AZZ from the owner, but I haven't been able to get ahold of them. If anyone knows who they are or how to contact them, let me know.

Yes, and Grant has pretty much not looked back since selling the board. I do have his contact info and may reach out if we can’t get ahold of the current owner. Glad to hear so many folks interested in transition ownership. Would be fun to make this community owned.
