Politics Forum?

Post by BGDrew »

It seems we have a large amount of people interested in politics and there always seems to be very active topics in the Free-for-All. Would this kind of forum be possible?

It'd be possible, but I don't think I want to encourage the political discussions. Free-for-all is a good place for them. Everything else you can at least loosely tie to BG Athletics... I'd have a tough time doing that to a politics forum. Out of scope.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I think a politics forum would become a nightmare. People already get tired of hearing certain poster's opinions on Falcon athletics. Imagine what it would be like if we continued the political threads. Even though I get sucked in to the political conversations every once in a while I come here to read about Falcon athletics. It should stay in the free for all forum.

Instead of a politics forum you could have a Redwingtom vs Bleedingorange forum...you'd accomplish the same thing :-)

A politics forum has the potential to attract a lot of non-sports oriented posters. If political discussions explode, the reputation/purpose of the site will drift from it's original intent. Whether these turn out to be bad things is anyone's guess. Political forums attract kooks and zealots, so I'd be a little worried.

A political forum could make Grant's role a lot more complicated wrt operating this site. Besides, there are already TONS of political site on the web anyway.
