Can someone clarify why the "Hoops" forun does not include women's basketball? A thread was started announcing Coach Miller's first blog and the author got flamed by another poster. Now the thread has been locked and all but the original post has been deleated. This is quite a rude thing to do. Especially since the flame post stated that an announcement belonged in the "Women's sports" forum. It would be nice to know who closed it and why. I think that should be included in each thread that is closed. That way the rest of us lowly posters know what to avoid.

I closed it because it was nothing but one good post and then a flame-fest. The original post was fine, except it was cross posted in two different forums. I consolodated those two posts (still leaving the worthy original post up in the hoops forum)
Traditionally, women's basketball has been discussed in the "Women's Sports" forum. Why this is the case? I don't know. It's a women's sport, it's also basketball. It's NEVER been an issue until now. It's just the way things have gone, how the members have decided to post.
Rude? Sorry.

I'm fond of the notion of just locking threads and deleting posts with no warning or explanantion. ...I'd like to be a capricious and vengeful demi-God, even if it is in a limited context.

Thank you. I've never had a post called a "worthy original"

Well put, Flip. A little Fear Of God never hurt anyone.

That was a typo... it was supposed to be Werthers Original. Sorry.

I'll probably get flamed for taking up the mantle of the spelling police, but my OCD complex has to come out again. The word is spelled
deleted. I keep seeing it spelled incorrectly with that inserted "a" and it bothers me everytime. It bothers me almost as much as when I see "maybaye" or "mayabay". It's either maybe or may be depending on the context.

Thank you for that. I thought it might be considered rude to point that out though.

Just one more thing on this before I let it die...
"You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit."
The sailors and pilots,
The soldiers and the law,
The payoffs and the ripoffs,
And the things nobody saw.
Don't matter if it's heroin, cocaine, or hash,
You gotta carry weapons
'Cause you always carry cash.
Lots of shady characters,
And lots of dirty deals.
Every name's an alias
In case somebody squeals.
It's the lure of easy money,
It's got a very strong appeal.
Perhaps you'd understand it better
Standin' in my shoes,
It's the ultimate enticement,
It's the smuggler's blues, smuggler's blues.
