Any recruiting news?
Mahone sounds like a great player. The PD story seems a little confusing though. They say electrifying offensive talent and spew his stats then in a 'oh by the way' fashion say he will play safety at BG.

Hamm - I didn't think that you were denying top 100. I was just adding some info as to Turner's ranking.[/quote]hammb wrote:I'm not denying top 100 by position, not at all. Today's get, Mahone, is the #28 safety on Scout.com. I was just laughing at the Akron article mentioning top 50 overall recruits, and dropping a name like Chris Wells. If Akron ever gets a commit from a *****, surefire blue chip kid like Wells I'll eat every bug that everyone can send me.BGSUfalcons wrote:I know that Turner was around 25 according to Rivals and around 50 accourding to Scout. I'd have to look-up Jacobs.
Cool...FWIW, I looked on scout.com and they had Omar & Turner both ranked as the #51 QB in their respective classes
Who is number 51 this year? Sheehan?

Some dude named Andrew Robinson. He's going to Syracuse.Germainfitch1 wrote: Who is number 51 this year? Sheehan?
Sheehan does not make scouts top 100. Not sure if they're sorted after the top 100 (where they are all called NR), but if they are he's not even close...looks like he's somewhere around #135 or so.

I am somewhat confused by that as well, even more so when you look at his ranking as a safety. You would think they would list some of his statistics on the defensive side. Maybe the key is that, he will be given the chance to start/play at safety, but he was also recruited for those offensive skills down the road, or he would prefer to play offense.Warthog wrote:Mahone sounds like a great player. the kid was part of a three headed offensive monster at elyria this year. folks are most likely to recognize him for that. they featured those guys on the news most every friday night.PGY Tiercel wrote:I am somewhat confused by that as well, even more so when you look at his ranking as a safety. i'm sure pj is a great athlete, and he'll be a great performer at bg.
PGY: Easy explanation - it's the PD. 'Nuff said.PGY Tiercel wrote:I am somewhat confused by that as well, even more so when you look at his ranking as a safety. I just hope this isn't part of the grand illusion where we recruit defensive guys and then switch them to offense when they get here.PGY Tiercel wrote:I am somewhat confused by that as well, even more so when you look at his ranking as a safety. As far as telling kids there is a chance of starting right away? Tells me that nobody's job is safe going into 2006. Competition makes everyone else better.
