New AA additions...
New AA additions...
Hey while checking out the setup for this weekend's graduation I noticed a few new additions to AA. First off there is a large BG Falcons and logo painted near the MAC Champ banners. It is huge and looks great. Also there is a certain someone's number that is hung up, only about 40 years too late. So there's now even more motivation to watching us play Notre Dame (OH)
Thanks for the updates. It's funny, but every little upgrade they make to Anderson Arena, it always seems like a big deal. As much as I love the place, it just lacks so many things. I remember not too long ago they painted all the columns at the top of the arena orange to match all of them together. Prior to that, they were multi-colored...they were green, purple, red, yellow, they were a rainbow of colors. Anyone remember that? Another small but much needed recent upgrade was the sound system. I'll never understand how those old speakers lasted as long as they did.
GO BG!!!

Though don't they throw a big black curtain up behind the stage?Dayons_Den wrote: I will be graduating tonite so at least I have something new to look at while all the others names are getting announced. I am looking forward to hearing Arnold Rampersad's speach.
Unless maybe they got the logo painted on the wall in time for the graduation ceremony...

Say hi to Falcon Fanatic while you're walking by. She'll be in a black robe waving her hands around in arcane ways looking like she's casting spells. Could this avatar have influenced that banner? ? ?
I am glad they have decided to honor Big Nate and put his number up where it belongs. My only minor gripe as a graphic artist is how they "stacked" (a term we use in the biz) the lettering. Think Pepsi can, it doesn't have the P on top fo the E on top of hte P etc., if you turn a pepsi can on its side you can read it, but oh well, they didn't ask me how to design their banner. . .

As for the design on the wall, the thing is flippin huge. yes the banner is in the way so this isn't the best shot. I was thinking something similar to the size of the falcon head and the BGSU_______The Winning Tradition. That was there in the early/mid 90s. This is more like the swooping falcon that was there in the 80s.
Thanks for the congrats on me obtaining my masters degree, yes I have secured a job in sunny Charleston, SC!

Nope. The avatar has the wrong dates.Dayons_Den wrote:Could this avatar have influenced that banner? ? ?
Curiously, though, the way it's mounted makes it look like there's another honoree waiting in the wings... If they aren't planning it, why leave that much of the wood (?) "bracket" hanging off the end? And if they were just leaving it open for the future, why not extend the wood bracket the length of the wall.
Any guesses?

Because I am a dork I have noticed those brackets for quite some time. You can see them in this photo here from a few years ago. I think they may remain from when EACH MAC Championship team had its own banner instead of just a date on the Huge banners. . .TG1996 wrote:Nope. EDIT: now that I think of it that seems to be where the Ohio flag used to hang

As for the dates, I just used his varsity seasons, as freshman weren't eligable in those days and I am not certain if he wore 42 for the frosh team

...and those brackets seem to have been there for awhile.

Hey DD,
First of all, thanks for the pics. I have yet another stop to make when I get back to campus here sometime in the next few weeks.
But more importantly, congrats on the masters! I was just thinking the other day that you had been pretty scarce around here lately (or maybe I was just drunk?). Were you defending? Now you can go show those 'Cock lovers in SC how we roll in NW Ohio!
