Watch it, folks...
I deleted a topic and a post on this forum today...things are getting a bit snippy in here. I know it's frustrating when the team isn't playing well, but it doesn't give anyone the right to be a jackass...myself included.

It looks as though one of mine was deleted and it's a shame, as I just found out about this forum and would like to express my views. My post was not nasty and only voiced some concerns about the basketball program under the current coach. My observations are based on facts and I will always post in a professional manner. It's a shame we are not able to voice legitmate concerns.
DrD... I don't think it was one of your posts specifically, just a thread that contained one of your posts. Voicing legitimate concerns is one thing, getting personal and dropping insults (without the appropriate smileyDrDesert wrote:It looks as though one of mine was deleted and it's a shame, as I just found out about this forum and would like to express my views. I noticed your post early this morning before Flipper deleted it. My take: the post itself looked legit, but your choice of thread seemed rather inappropriate.DrDesert wrote:It looks as though one of mine was deleted and it's a shame, as I just found out about this forum and would like to express my views. Yep, if you do a search the whole "Dakich should leave" nonsense has been discussed way too many times.

Bingo....and Dr Desert, you were advised via PM of that fact when it was deleted...BleedOrange wrote:I noticed your post early this morning before Flipper deleted it. I don't recall being notified of anything by anybody. Also, the thread I posted to is still on the forum, so it wasn't a matter of posting to the wrong thread. I only raised some legitimate questions and am disappointed they couldn't be discussed. I'll try to be careful, but I would hope there could be some serious discussion on the board. Supporting BG is the prime objective of everyone and that may involve asking difficult questions and making decisions by the university that will benefit the students. I am proud of the Falcons and get a little concerned when I feel the university is being embarrassed.....and I'm not talking about wins and losses.

I pm'd you re your message....if you didn't recieve it, I can only blame a system glitch and apologize for my seeming impertinence
I deleted your post because it was inappropriate for the topic. The "gee we've lost a lot of players" discussion has been chewed over in a number of different threads over many, many months. It's like the proverbial bus, if you've missed it, just wait 15 minutes and it will come along again.
I thought it might be nice to, for once, have a discussion that doesn't deteriorate into the kind of senseless bickering and carping that has become the hallmark of this once great site
Why pick a thread full of condolences to a young man and his family over a very terrible loss to raise this issue again?
You aren't the only person who had comments deleted from this thread. Because I like playing random demi-God, I deleted a number of other posts that demonstrated a similarly unfortunate sensibility.
Please understand that I bear you no personal malice...I just think you made a bad choice in this instance and took steps as a moderator to correct it. I'm sure you're a good person and bear no ill will towards anyone and I'm sure we'll enjoy talking about BG sports in the future.
And that's about all I'm going to say on the topic....

My apologies, but I didn't know anything about the situation with the most recent player departing. (and still don't) I read through everybody's comments and couldn't piece it together because people were talking about him going to Kentucky. I checked his name on the roster and he's from New Jersey. Since I was new, I was also unaware that the topic of players departing had already been discussed before on this forum. I didn't intend to hit a raw nerve with anyone on the site. Again, my apologies.

Ok... Wilson's father back in New Jersey died..(it was in the first post on the thread) The "kid in Kentucky" is a player that were are actively recruiting. In another thread there was a lot of speculAtion about why we're recruiting this kid when there were no scholarships available. WIth Wilson's departure, we now have at least one.
With that. let me offer you a belated "welcome aboard" and get back to discussing more fun topics. For example, how gutsy is Lefeld to be playing on feet that are so bad he can't even practice full time?

In all honesty, I wasn't trying to be a jerk at all. If anything, I was simply trying to articulate the reasons for things being handled the way they have been. I believe that this gentleman may have some valid points; however, he simply stated them in the wrong thread. That is all.
I do, however, defer to your eternal wisdom, Michigan Flipper.
