I suggest you all do a little research and find out how long it took Red Berenson to make Michigan a perennial power. You may just be surprised.

I didn't say national, I said perennial....sheesh! The thing about them is even when they're a little down, they're up. That's perennial. They don't have to work much to recruit. We, on the other hand, are constantly on the road recruiting.MiamiBando wrote:Michigan is a national power?Michigan who?
Re: Nice responses...
Red Berensen's first three seasons at Michigan (1984/85-1986/87) records were 13-26-1, 12-26-3, 14-25-1. He didn't have his first winning season till his 4th year (22-19-0)...didn't make the NCAA tournament till his 7th season, didn't win a conference championship till his 8th, didn't win a CCHA tournament till his 10th, and won his first national title in his 12th season.FalconBlue wrote:It's the Journey..., you are loyal and I sincerely hope not over optimistic. How long does it take to get a hockey program to be competitive? I only have Pooch's record at BGSU to consider and the CCHA stats.
FalconFiesta50, I was thinking more of the omission of James Unger from the St. Lawrence game after a goal and an assist against Clarkson and Horrell, after his recent stellar play, sitting out for Clarkson. Jon Ralph will have his day,I'm sure, he is an excellent player.
BGFan, you show a great deal of analytical thinking, thanks for your contribution.
And that's how long it took a school with a (practically) UNLIMITED athletic department budget.
