John Floyd and Troy Smith = Buddies?

Post by JWEIII »

"- Falcon G John Floyd has a historical link to Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith. In a high school basketball tournament game between Smith's Cleveland Glenville team and Floyd's Toledo St. John's team, a frustrated Smith punched Floyd, and Smith was promptly ejected from the game."

Just thought it was interesting.

And here I thought it was only Floyd's teammates that wanted to hit him.

Smith didn't really WANT to hit him, but some guy paid him $300 to do it.

You know, I knew there was a joke in there somewhere, but I just couldn't put my finger on the best way to get it across :)

There are also some jokes I could throw out about Floyd's actions inciting violence and fits of rage but for the sake of AZZ civility, I'll let those go.

Smith did the same thing (punching an opponent) during a football game his sophmore year at Cleveland St. Edwards. He got suspended and he transferred to Glenville the following year...and the rest is history.

Coach Brandon should put Opie in pads for the trip down to Columbus next October. Talk some smack to Troy Smith, get punched again, and get Smith ejected from the game.

They could raise money for the Sebo Center by setting up a "punch John Floyd" booth at the basketball games. I might take a shot at Opie for $300....
