this happened to me twice recently....
Once while Christmas shopping and once while at Kroger's, I was asked about my hat.
"What's BGSU?"
It didn't bother me that the 50 year old clerk at the mall didn't know what BGSU meant and still looked confused when I said Bowling Green State University.
It did bother me when the kid bagging groceries who looked to be 17 had no idea what I was talking about.
It shouldn't bug me if some kid in Fairfield will never know the magic of Howard's or Anderson Arena or the Doyt, but it did.
