Ohio keeps adding to awesome OOC home schedule

Ohio U. keeps adding to a very nice home non-conference schedule for 2005-2011 .... see - http://www.bobcatattack.com

With the Bobcats establishing a series with Utah, Ohio will HOST the following teams in consecutive years starting next season (in 2005): Pittsburgh (Big East), Virginia Tech (ACC), Wyoming (Mountain West), Northwestern (Big Ten), UConn (Big East) and Utah (Mountain West). Now that is one helluva home non-conference schedule for a MAC team IMO! The ACC, Big Ten, Big East and Mountain West with no I-AA teams in a MAC stadium. Very impressive!

This is the kind of schedule I'd like to see for BG. I like us getting Boise State and Wyoming in upcoming home-and-home series and the game againt Wisconsin in Cleveland is solid. But Temple next year and TBA in the future at the Doyt doesn't stack up to OU's schedule - right now. I know right now it's probably easier for OU to schedule these teams over us, no doubt, with the success BG has had, teams may not want to come play us in BG. But watching schools like Toledo pull in Purdue, Minnesota, Indiana and Syracuse shows how good and not-so-good teams in the MAC can do it and get it done.

I like how our non-conference schedule is starting to shape up for future years, I really do. It has gotten much better and looks more promising and exciting. I just hope we continue to work towards improving it like we have shown in the last year or two.

That is great news for Ohio U. The Bobcats have had great success in getting the BCS boys in their park.

But ask yourself a question. If you were looking for a 1-A game and had to go on the road...would you go to Athens or Bowling Green? Ask Missouri that question. How many BCS conf teams are gonna come to BG? Not very many. Paul Krebs is doing the best he can at this point.
Plus, Meyer and Brian Knorr are very good friends. But look how this deal is set up...OU goes to Utah in 2006 and gets a return game in 2011?? Neither coach will still be at those schools in 2011.

Boise State is a great series. I am really looking forward to playing, IMO, the most aggressive mid major in the country...having Wyoming is cool. Temple is still 1-A.
We must be able to delivers solid crowds EVERY week despite the opponent to have a decent chance to get games on our turf. Winning and a 7-1 BCS record don't help our cause there.

Peden Stadium is a very nice facility, but small. I really am shocked that some of these bigger teams are coming down to Athens. It's awesome for the program though don't get me wrong. It's location also confuses me, it's really a pain to get in and out of the city. No one wants to drive though Lancaster. But way to go Bobcats. Hopefully I'll be there to attend some of these games.

By the way... any others besides freak coming down to athens this year? If so hit me up, we have a good tailgate planned for this one. I'd love to see lots of orange and brown in Peden that day!

Looking forward to that trip my friend! Athens is so beautiful and by 10/23, the leaves should be perfect! They have an awesome setting down there. Been down for the last 3 BG/OU games and it's actually a closer drive to Athens than BG for me!

I'm looking forward to the game at OU. I'm bring a group up from Lexington so they can watch a real football team play OU. Since OU is coming to play UK this year on Oct. 2nd, they should all have a good reference point for the BG-OU game. My quess is it will be a very interesting game for UK and maybe more compeptitive than the wildcats would like to have against a weaker MAC team. I'd love to see BG come here and beat up on UK some time. That would be fun!!!

Do you realize a limited access bypass around Lancaster is to be complete by next year? By 2011 a bypass will be complete around Nelsonville, and the traffic lights between Lancaster and Columbus will be gone. It will be just 60 miles over a limited access freeway to the Columbus Beltway. And OU's number one recruiting area Central Oho continues to grow rapidly. As Columbus has risen, so has our school.

OU brings in the schedules being one of the most desirable schools in the MAC. Why play at a crappy place like Kent St, when you can play in Athens. Does Kent State even get on TV at all? OU has all its TV games on ESPN Gameplan. We have local TV affilates in Charleston, WV and Roanoke, VA. Anybody else in the MAC have a presence down there? Nope, not anymore with Marshall leaving to CUSA.

OU is a big winner in the Marshall move. The top 3 Football programs in the MAC East were Marshall, Miami, and UCF. In 2005 its going to be Miami, BG, and OU. OU will probably have a couple of national games on ESPN by next season.

i always thought about how the "lesser" MAC teams got better home OOC games than us. I think mainly b/c there a a chance for us to pull big upsets at the doyt, where as the BcS teams think they will have zero trouble rolling over OU at OU, which is good for OU, but Its kind of sad watching them get those games, and we still play 2 1-AA teams a year sometimes.

Buzzer Sound. Wrong. OU has beaten multiple BCS schools over the last 10 years, and still the BCS schools sign up. The only other school with as much success in landing opponents is Miami. If being bad is the key, why can't Akron and Kent land any BCS home games. They've been even worse than OU.
