Hammb, you need to get out more. Pac 10 & Big 12 both had FOUR teams in the top 25. If that is crap, what is your take on our conference, or the Sun Belt conference, or C-USA?
Crap, crap, and more crap.

I think this was a down year in college football. There were not 25 teams, in my mind, that deserve to call themselves "ranked" however, they rank the top 25, so they get that many no matter what.

Even if I was ranking 25 teams I find it very hard to believe that teams like Cal, Oklahoma, and Nebraska are really in the top 25, but maybe they are. I know that none of those teams would scare me one bit if my team was playing them; they're all quite beatable.

If I'm a top tier BCS team hoping to run through my conference undefeated I'm choosing to be in Big 12 or Pac 10. They each have 1 really good team, and nobody that scares you beyond that. I'm sorry if I don't think the other 3 teams that are ranked in those conferences are really any good, but they all have serious flaws.
I think you make a really good point here, and the reality is that the Big Ten may have been close to having no good teams. I dont think anyone could have predicted that Penn State would have had a revival like they had and the way OSU's offense looked at the end of the year was also unlikely. Huge flaws on both teams that were ironed out.

That's fine, because neither of them are real strong conferences beyond one or two good teams at the top. However, people always want to point to the Big 12 as being oh so great, and give so much credit to whatever team does well from there. Fact is Texas was LIGHT YEARS ahead of every team in the Big 12 this year, and they were only a small step above USC & OSU. OSU didn't even win their conference, but gave Texas a far better game than anyone in the Big 12, where the only challenges UT had were when they didn't show up to play the game.

I applaud Texas for playing OSU this year and next, because the Big 12 is well known for scheduling the crappiest OOC schedule imaginable to artificially inflate their SOS numbers. KSU has this nasty habit of playing multiple D1AA schools in a season...
I agree that the Big 12 is over rated but so is the big ten and conference USA. Conference USa based off the number of bowls and Big Ten based off the fact that people think its the best conference when It seems obvious that the ACC, and SEC are better right now.
Wisconsin dominated Auburn, while Florida beat Iowa in a close one. OSU and PSU won BCS games, while Georgia didn't. Overall, both conferences had mixed results in the bowls. So there is nothing obvious about the SEC being better than the Big Ten.

The Big Ten champ beat the ACC champ. The second best Big Ten team (OSU, although I think they might beat PSU in a rematch) is better than the second best ACC team (VT or Miami). The third best Big Ten team (take your pick - Iowa, Wisc) is probably slightly worse than the third best ACC team (VT or Miami). After that, the teams seem relatively even. So, there is nothing obvious about the ACC being better than the Big Ten.
SEC: Georgia, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Alabama........OSU, Penn State
ACC: Florida State, Va Tech, Miami.......OSU, Penn State
I find this baffling. Why would you include Auburn, but not Wisconsin? Wisconsin just crushed them. Why would you include Florida instead of Wisconsin? Also, what has five loss FSU done to merit mentioned over Wisconsin?

edit: The rankings aren't perfect (why is Auburn one spot ahead of Wisconsin?), but you are putting, as a group, #7 VT, #17/#18 Miami, and #23 FSU ahead of #3 Penn St., #4 OSU, and you left off #15 Wisconsin.
