Re: gimmicky offense
Agreed on all accounts. Omar cannot withdraw if he signs an agent, however.Jacobs4Heisman wrote: I like Josh as a college QB, but Omar much more as a pro.
Alex Smith will be fine -- that team was horrid.
Urban's "gimmicky" offense seemed to work fine at Ohio State and Texas this year.
Big Ben can pass if he needs to, but that's not how the Steelers like to win. Look at his efficiency rating.
The deadline to withdraw from the draft is Jan 18th.

Damn!
Well that ruins my friday night! We love ya and we'll miss ya Omar. Make BG proud in the NFL and represent the Falcons well. 2 things that bother me about Omar's career though, he never beat Toledo, and he never won a MAC Championship. But I'll always remember all the great moments he provided us. I could definently see OJ getting drafted by Miami. They got a strong team, just need a quarterback. Good Luck Omar!
Let the Anthony Turner Reign Begin!!! Anyone else see a lil bit of Vince Young in AT??? I sure do! Light 'em up in '06 Anthony!

What can be said that hasn't already. I wish Omar the best of luck as he moves on and look forward to watching Turner lead the team next year.
I know "valuing education" came up in other conversations, I guess in it all I and others may have forgotten that he has finished 3.5 years of college. He said he is close to graduating, and probably just didn't like the ballroom teacher he would have had next year anyways.
Anyway the bgsufalcons article had a little more info.

I am close to completing my degree in recreation and plan to make every attempt to finish my classwork in a timely manner," added the Delray Beach, Fla., native. "In choosing to play at the next level, it is important that all my effort be devoted toward football. I would again like to thank everyone associated with my stay at BGSU for their friendship and loyalty. I absolutely made the right decision in coming here and will always be a Falcon first and foremost."

Best of luck, Omar!! You will be missed. Thanks for always, and I mean always, spending a few minutes with the kids after games. Didn't matter if it was after a win or loss. That meant a ton to me and the boys. Jake chose #4 for a reason. You are a class act and will always be a FALCON.
Thanks for the highlights and kick ass in the NFL!
GO FALCONS!!
Anthony Turner....you're up next! Tear it up!

Omar- Thanks for all the memories. We had such a great beginning in Wisconsin, it was so much fun there for a while...
And for the class you showed going on TV after the Boise game...it tells a lot about the person.
We got a lot of enjoyment out of BGSU football with you and all your team mates. I hope you get to read some of these posts, and realize how much we appreciate all your efforts for BGSU.
Best of luck to you, and whereever you go, don't forget to come home to BGSU sometimes.
Now go kick some serious Butt somewhere!!!!!

The Browns seem to be content with Charlie Frye as the QB of their future. They won't take Omar. I wouldn't be surpised if he went to Miami in the 3rd or 4th round of the draft.SaxyIrishTenor wrote:He better stick with the orange and brown team dammit...

I guess he is satisfied with potentially only being the 5th or 6th QB taken and didn't want to risk dropping next year?
I think part of the issue is that the NFL collective bargaining agreement expires before the 2007 draft, so he is likely to get more money by going to the NFL this year.

Savage is a big believer in taking the best player available, regardless of position. If the Browns are up in the 4th round and he has Omar rated as the best player available, they'll take him.quote:

BG doesn't play Michigan next year. It was going to happen, but instead they play Wisconsin in Cleveland. They also play Ohio State in Columbus and Boise State at the Doyt. Sounds like a tough enough non-conference schedule to scare him a little even without Michigan.

Re: Damn!
Me too, and that's one of the things as a BG fan that was hard to see happen with guys like Josh Harris not winning a MAC Championship, or players like Antonio Daniels, Anthony Stacey or Keith McLeod not getting to the play in NCAA Tournament. They certainly weren't doing everything themselves, but they were special players and I really wanted to see them accomplish some of those things at BG as well.BGSU Crazy Fan 58 wrote:2 things that bother me about Omar's career though, he never beat Toledo, and he never won a MAC Championship.

Re: Damn!
I hope down the road that my memories of Omar will consist of the GMAC Bowl win, Miami win this year, Marshall in 2004, and the first half at Wisconsin this year. For now, though, my memory is of a great quarterback with a great passing game and all the weapons around him and no MAC championship to show for it.BGSU33 wrote:Me too, and that's one of the things as a BG fan that was hard to see happen with guys like Josh Harris not winning a MAC Championship, or players like Antonio Daniels, Anthony Stacey or Keith McLeod not getting to the play in NCAA Tournament.
