I haven't been my usual obsessive self this off season. So... yeah, I'm surprised. I think he could have improved his stock in 2006.

I'm not...I think Omar has some aspects of his game to work on to prepare for the NFL, but our offense limited the oportunity for him to do that work. Another year working out of the shotgun wasn't going to answer any questions about his footwork. I don't think he's changing his throwing motion (nor do I think he should), so that's "issue" number two that isn't getting addressed by staying.

The best he could hope for was to put up the Playstation numbers he did in 2004. Assuming he did that, the naysayers would still point to the simplified structure we employ and the fact that he works out of the gun.

He's best served by getting in front of some scouts who are going to ask him to display the skills an NFL QB needs. He wasn't going to do that playing another year here.

IF Vince doesnt come out this year, Miami will wait till next year for him or Troy Smith. They are both cool, calm, better throwing mechanics, not afraid to run, and can pass a hell of a lot better than michael vick.

I as a phns fan do not want jacobs. I want VY or T. Smith

Certainly not suprised by Omar's decision and I wish all the success in the NFL, but I think he's going to be sorely disappointed on draft day(s). He might go in the fourth round , but I'm guessing 5th and possibly as late as in the 6th.

I am a Dolphins fan as well, but let's be realistic here. If Vince Young does not go to the draft this year(he is leaning towards going out for the draft), then he is likely to be the 1st overall pick next year, which means the Dolphins would have to completely tank it next year to get Vince. As far as Troy Smith goes, I don't think he'll be much of an NFL Prospect. He may get drafted in the 1st round, but I see him as a potential bust. I would rather just see Miami take Omar this year and sign someone like Steve McNair to start for a couple years while Omar learns the ropes.

Unless injures his shoulder again or gets another injury before the draft, there is a .0000001% chance that he goes any later than the 4th round.

They could trade up to get him. could be a very good time to get rid of Ricky if VY stays another year. Ricky keeps proving people wrong and shows he has gotten himself together, They could trade him to move up in next years draft. Get VY. They will try to start rebuilding an old defense THIS year. They would be set with booker, chambers, ronnie brown, and VY or T. Smith.

I disagree about troy Smith not being a good NFL prospect. He has the size, speed, he moves just as well as VY and he throws better and stronger. He stays completely calm in the pocket and can make just as amazing escapes and avoid sacks just as well as vick or VY. He can also throw on the run with very decent accuracy. What i have seen from VY is a lot of quick passes, I dont remember seeing him throw on the run..missed on all deep balls except maybe one @OSU to win game and his receiver mad a good diving catch to make him look good.

I can't see............

Omar going in the same round as J5 did. Omar has so much more upside and potential then J5 did. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in the late 2nd rd. or early 3rd. Gosh he can't do anyworse than Charlie Frye can he?

Hate to tell you this but Charlie Frye was a better college QB than Omar. There's a reason why Omar won OPOY last year (best stats), but Charlie won the MVP (best leader).

Omar projects to be about the same level of prospec, IMO. Charlie showed all the intangibles, Omar's got the physical tools. If you could morph them into one you'd have a stud prospect, but you cannot. I expect Omar to go on the first day, and I'd say 2nd round, but that never happens. As Such he could slip into late round 1, or drop into roundn 3 where somebody will grab him as a project. I'd say that Round 3 is much more likely than round 1. I'd be surprised if he slipped to the 2nd day, but if he has a poor wonderlic or loses some height like J5 I could definitely see it.

I'm no draft expert and I will never profess to be, but if I were an NFL guy and I had to take one of two quarterbacks, one with physical skills and one with maturity skills, it only makes sense to me to take the guy with the physical skills any day. It only seems logical to me that the leadership/maturity skills can be learned/taught/absorbed a lot easier than the physical skills. To be totally honest (and you're not going to like this, hammb - sorry), I laugh everytime I see Frye in a game. The kid has such a weak arm and floats so many balls into coverage that I really don't see him lasting very long at all in the NFL. He didn't really play enough this year for opposing secondaries to totally catch on to this, but Pittsburgh certainly did, and if he is the starter for the Browns next year, so will the rest of the NFL. Believe me, I want to see anyone and everyone in any way associated with the MAC succeed at the next level, but I think Browns fans are making the same old mistake they've always been making by resting their future on a QB with a weak arm.

Anyhow, I think Omar will be a much better NFL QB than Frye and that is really the point. Wait, did I have a point?
