It's a young team and it takes awhile for the confidence to build in them. WE knew the talent was there all along, they just had to believe in themselves. Mentally, they were in the games, it is often other factors. Finding the right line combos and having a goalie who could provide some consistency, along with a D that plays well in front of him, takes awhile sometimes. Nothing wrong with a second half run. Hockey is a LONG season.

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Glad to hear that so many were in attendance, I was just going by what I was able to see on TV, which apparenlty did an injustice in showing how many people truley were there tonight. Glad to see that the community is starting to get behind the team again by coming out to the games. I've always thought that when the ice arena is filled, its the most intimidating atmosphere in the CCHA.

I missed the game last night in person and on the tube. One question though. Did the players skate better last night? After watching Friday's game at the Schott, I had to laugh at how many players tripped over themselves without anyone within 10 feet of them, whether it was in mid-ice or going into the corners after a puck. I know the ice isn't the greatest at the Schott, but I don't recall ever seeing that many players trip (at least 8), in all the years that I have been going to games in BG and at OSU (I live in C-bus and catch most BG-OSU games and a handful of other match-ups).

The ice at Value Sh*ty Arena was horrible Friday night. When you're used to skating on that crap, as OSU is, it's a huge advantage. Pucks that started out moving smoothly would suddenly skip over sticks due to the soft ice.

To answer your question, the only one who fell w/o help last night was one of the linesmen.

I seem to remember hearing from some friends down at tOSU that they keep the ice a little warmer since they put the basketball court over top of it for the basketball games. Of course, this made no sense to me, but I'm no chemistry major.

Saturday night was one of the most exciting games I've seen at the Ice Arena in a long time. It was loud, crazy and jammin! And beating Zero State just added to the fun. Every time the Zero State fans tried to get loud, we drowned them out. LOL! After the empty net goal, they all filed out quietly and that's a fun thing to see.

I thought the players hustled their azzes off all game. I kept thinking OSU was gonna get a score at some time...never happened. Horrell is on another planet right now. I am so impressed with his play.

Sweep! Congrats to the Icers!!!!

Great hanging with everyone, as usual. FF, thanks for the tix!! :supz:

We'll be back up on 1/21 for Meeeeeeeeeechigan and I may be bringing a friend and his son, who have never been to a hockey game.

6 wins in a row, 7 out of the last 8. KEEP IT GOING!!

Beat WMU!

Those of us who've been around the game for a while recognized well before the season began that this year's team was loaded with talent..we tried and tried get you (and a couple of other newbies) to have a little patience while the chemestry developed and team leaders emerged...now that it's happening, all you can do is question why it didn't happen sooner.
It didn't happen sooner 'cause it wasn't ready to happen sooner...and now that it has, don't dwell on the past, look forward.

Go BG...bash the broncos!

I talked with a group of players after Friday's game in Columbus, and asked if the ice was as bad as it looked from the seats. Thay all agreed that it's the worst ice in the league, and always has been...but that the ice that night was even worse than usual. They also said it's a common problem for large multi-purpose arenas, and that the ice at the Schott is similar to the ice in many NHL venues.

Go Home Bucks!

This had to be the most satisfying win I have ever seen (close second was the second win over UNO early in the season). Being a Columbus resident, I have grown to despise that school and most of what comes with it.
Congrats to the Falcons for staying in it and pulling off the sweep. Only at that UNO game was I as happy about bringing out the keys and sending the visitors home.
The third period sure was a nailbiter, but it was so amazing to watch. I was so worried when we couldn't get the puck out (and that crossbar PING in the second(?)), but the boys were able to stave them off and Horrell turned in another doozy of a performance. 61 saves on 63 shots for the series? UNREAL. What a guy.
I was actually very happy about the attendance as well. Being a student, I had to greatly inconvenience myself and my family to get to the game, and was pleasantly surprised to see (and hear!) the large crowd. Rarely (if ever) have I heard that arena as loud as it was after the empty-netter.
Best game so far and many more to come.
As much as I hate to say it--being a Michigan fan--I hope the Falcons take it to them and come out with some big games there too.
