Buhlah's Bugle

Post by Red Wing Fan »

Think we could get Keith Instone to do a commerative issue for an upcoming game? The Bugle was great pregame reading. The crossword puzzles, the jokes - not to mention the articles about the opposing teams and coaches. I still have a few left around my house, too.

Definitely need some more handouts of cheers this weekend - and lots of newspaper for " Who's he? Nobody!!!!"

Friday Night

Post by BGSU Crazy Fan 58 »

Wow I cannot wait till the game Friday Night! I think it's gonna be a prety packed house and we are really gonna rock the rink. I'm looking forward to seeing the prinited off cheers and I'll do my best to get 'em going in the student section. I'll also be bringing lots and lots of newspapers to the game and I think I'll try to spread them out to some of the other sections. Well it should be a fun time. Go Falcons!!!!!!!!! Beat WMU, get them back for injuring Omar!

Of course it has been quite awhile since we hit 11 goals with any regularity.

And by the way. Would everyone please Drop the "C-YA" and the "They Still Suck" cheers. They are Michigan rip-offs which I believe Michigan ripped off from Harvard anyway.
I thought Michigan stole all their cheers from Cornell.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't Harvard, because Harvard would have to have fans before anyone could steal their cheers.
Possibly one of them was from Cornell, but Harvard had many rabid and vulgar fans when they were a powerhouse back in the day.

I used to contribute some things to the Bugle as well. (BTW, it was spelled Buelah if I remember correctly!) In fact I did a whole issue by myself on a laptop which was kind of a throw back issue and not the usual graphic savvy thing Keith produced. It would be cool if one of you happened to have that issue around. It would have been from near the end of the run of the Bugle as Keith and the guys were getting tired and running out of ideas.

The favorite thing I contributed was the attendance calculator which had 3 two buttons. One was the previous record and the other was +3. If you look at our best attendance figures, each one was inevitable 3 more than the one before it, LOL

Not sure if I could handle the Go Bananas cheer... Sounds too much like Gwen Stefani, and I'm not sure how she fits into the hockey game scene....

I've got an idea that could be a riot.

Install five simple banners (like old fashioned window shades) on the wall above the seats in one of the north corners. Each banner would have one letter, and when they're all exposed, they spell S-I-E-V-E

At the end of our 'goal chant' some lucky fan (perhaps chosen by a pregame lottery) gets the honor of exposing a letter. Can you imagine the crowd anticipation (and the opposong goalie's humiliation) building as that fifth letter gets turned?

You'll have to forgive him....he's somewhat old. He may be remembering a cheer from his high school days with Richie, Ralph, Potsie, and the Fonz.

I've never heard this one either and probably wouldn't repeat it if I had.

Um, no comment.

Though NWLB, I think that the chant page should move to the top of the priority chart with the way the second half of the season is starting to shape up!!!

The "WE WANT MORE!" t-shirt idea has a boatload of potential, if only we knew someone with t-shirt printing experience....

I too remember the GO BANANAS cheer and it was awesome. Probably was at it height in 1979-80 or so.

Other than being the next UK schedule poster girl, she does NOT fit into the hockey scheme at all.

And while we're on the subject of that song... I was mortally afraid that they'd play it at Maine when their mascot took the ice (being named Bananas and all). Luckily the marketing dept. hadn't stooped that low.
