HEARTBREAKER!

Blowing a 15-point lead, losing by one. Just a heartbreaker. Damn.

Man.

I'm not a DD basher, but don't you want Smarco taking that shot? Or drive strong to the hoop for a foul? Only needed one point for overtime.

It's just frustrating...

74 points and they lost. It seems like it's either all defense or all offense.

Nuts...

Let's get Toledo.

We played a great first half offensively, scoring 50 in the first half, and then went cold in the second half only scoring 24. On top of all of this, it's another home loss too.

FWIW:

Last season NIU lost alot more close games - many on the road in the final seconds.

This season we have split in those games which is a small but significant improvement.

If there is one difference it's depth down the stretch- better rotation , fresher legs and experience.

The East is loaded and we figure the WEST is weaker and ours to lose.

Good luck the remainder of season. I enjoyed reading the anecdotes about fans' encounters with Dakich earlier today.

We lost this one with less than 35 seconds remaining in the first half when we got sloppy and NIU got a turnover and scored an easy basket for two as we were going to go for the final shot. Without that five second lapse, we could have won this one.

You play 20 minutes each half, not 19:30.

I can't understand how you can call a time out with 13 on the shot clock and not get a better shot than that. I just can't. DD said it was poor execution in the post-game show, but it still mystifies me.

Game observations

Post by BGorDeath »

1. Lefeld played a great game. The dude was a monster in the middle.
2. Reichel from NIU was a stud. A post player that shoots the three.
3. Floyd. Don't shoot, pass.
4. Should have fouled with :30 left and try to win the game by making a basket, not hoping NIU misses. Just my strategy. I'm not a coach, like some  .
5. The new painting on the wall and floor at Anderson looks great. Never heard it mentioned yet. Thought someone should get their due.

On the bright side, we had a season-high 1,605 people in attendance there tonight.   Thanks to everyone who did make it. I know there are a lot of alums like me who can't make it to every basketball game on weekdays because of work, family, living out of state, etc. But with our students back and tonight being a conference game, this is just so poor. The losses, the empty seats, the transfers, eligibility issues, etc., it's all slowly eating away at me. This looks like it's going to be a long and painful year for us football and men's basketball fans.

The student section looked pretty good tonight. Metz may have a different perpective of it from his vantage point than I did, but from up above, I was impressed with student turn-out. Sunday should be a better turnout, I just hope it's more of our fans than theirs.

I like the idea of putting it in Steve's hands. He has the leadership and the most experience on the team...

Don't bet on it...it's the same time as the Steelers/Colts game. It will be a better crowd, by virtue of being UT, but I'd be surprised if it's a real big crowd.

I know I won't be there, family Christmas obligations :(

we have felt the same pain many a season.

It's never easy being a fan of teams struggling to meet reasonable expectations. Keep the faith and support your teams.

Since rejoining the MAC awhile ago - We have aways to go to consistently match BGSU athletics.

We take baby steps most every year. Go Dawgs !
