It is not vulgar for the most part, but what does it really say about your intelligence when you stand up and yell it outFreddie wrote:Perhaps I've missed something here, but have we shifted to the right so far that the word "jackass" is now classified as vulgar? I guess I can deal with it...seems to me there was once a time when it went like this...Rightupinthere wrote:I'll shoot off an email to Doctor Hayward explaining the traditions of the hockey games and how vulgarity should have no role in the cheers.
That should stomp any further exclamation points by the percussionists.

Hm. I was just thinking, if we wanted to make those S-I-E-V-E 'banner' things, you could actually use window blinds. I think it would work. Take some of those blinds with the pull-string and paint the letters on them, then let them down one by one to reveal the words.
That, or you could use the thing that adjusts the angle of the blinds and slowly twist them to reveal the letters.
Just an idea.

While this whole SIEVE Banner thing is funny as heck, I seriously doubt if Paluch (or Buddy Powers or the A.Dept.) will allow those to be put up in the arena. He wouldn't, however, have any problem with people holding up big sign cards that flip over to spell out SIEVE. I just think that attaching something permanently to the walls that puts down the other team won't fly. Just my thoughts on the matter.Peregrinner wrote:Hm. "BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Yeah, I figured they probably wouldn't be down with a permanently attached fixture, but I still thought it might be kind of cool if we could find some way to make it work.
Or maybe I was just too full of myself and my idea. It certainly wouldn't be the first time!

How about the idea of 5 large signs with the letters S-I-E-V-E on each card. Flip them over one by one as a group of you yell, "GIVE ME AN 'S'!!" Then the S-card flips over. At the end, you yell, WHAT'S THAT SPELL? CARUSO!! (Or whatever the goalie's name is that we are playing against!!!)
One of the things Sections A and H used to do that REALLY got the goalies off their game was yelling at them using their name, "Hey Caruso!" and then would follow with a witty comment that was very funny. You could tell you were getting to them, when you saw the goalie laugh or shake his head. Then we knew he wasn't paying attention to the game, but HEARD us instead, which was the whole idea!!! First and third periods were always the toughest on the opposing goalies!! Yelling their name always seem to get more milage than just yelling at them. Just some thoughts...
GO FALCONS!!
SWEEEEEP DUH PONIES!!

Who's he ?--- Nobody!!!!!!!
Was anyone at the Falcon Basketball game tonight? ( Really disappointing to lead the entire game by 10 to 12 points and then end up losing by 1 point.
) Anyway - the student section had some folks - including Freddie and Freda - holding up newspapers and doing "Who's he? Nobody"!!!!!! when they were introducing the starters from Northern Illinois. First time I've seen that at Anderson Arena.
I remember how rattled the goalie got when Section A and H used to mess with him during the games. That was great - hope that starts happening again!!!!!!

Re: Who's he ?--- Nobody!!!!!!!
I may have simply been all jacked up and imagined it, but I recall participating in this at the UT game last year that we came back and won in the 2nd half (the greatest basketball game I have ever witnessed). Metz can definately confirm this for me, but I very vividly remember this.Falcon Fanatic wrote:At a BASKETBALL GAME??? Wow!! That's fantastic!!!!! Love that kind of spirit carryover!!!!
