But games like last night show why sometimes in game every possession, shot, free throw, rebound, turnover, fouls, etc., can be the difference between a win and a loss.
It was a heartbreaker indeed, but I have to say that I'm not one bit disappointed with this team. Sure I was a bit disappointed by the loss last night, but not in the least with the team. The fact is, we are a young team learning to play as a team for a complete forty minutes. I expected this team to play as a Jekyll and Hyde type of team with the combination of youth and injuries this team had to deal with so far this season. But lately, I'm seeing a bit more Dr. Jekyll than Mr. Hyde out of the team (minus perhaps the last 30 minutes of the WMU game becasue that was Mr. Hyde again). If things keep moving in the direction I believe they are going, BG could be a very tough out come tournament time. In all actuality, that's what we want anyways. As realists, we all know the MAC regular season doesn't mean anything come NCAA tournament selection time. What Dakich has to do and seems to be doing is getting this team closer and closer to being a complete team. Lefeld appears to be the real deal at center. Samarco is a pure scorer and shooter. Wright will find his legs and has shown signs of becoming the leader on this team. Sowler seems like a very accurate shooter as well, he just needs to shoot a little more. And I don't think anyone can complain about what they've seen from the freshman Erik Marschall. And Floyd's cut down on his turnovers as well. Overall, I like what a see so far, and getting experience in close games at the college level can only help these guys come MAC tournament time.
