Matsumoto has been reinstated.

Nice lead in to the CCHA weekly article about BG's current winning streak. Fortunately they don't dwell too much on Matsu's indiscretions. Not quite as bad as Sharpie-gate anyways.

Its fortunate they didn't dwell on it, but "public intoxication and petty theft"? I realize school wasn't in session, so there probably wasn't a whole lot to do. But what makes it any different then any other athlete like, say, Maurice Clarrett? Of course, Matso has some brain cells, but obviously not many. I don't care what people say, athletes may be human and they may be held to a higher standard, but it is still no excuse. Period!

Go Falcons!

Dude, bad example.

I'm not going to blow it off like it was nothing, we already had the "why do hockey players drink" thread anyway. I'm glad he was suspended and it was dealt with, while still wondering if two games is enough. Or maybe it's two games now, and this is the warning shot to the team. But comparing it to that bum in Columbus? That's a terrible stretch. Without knowing the details, or getting into the "all college kids drink" argument, I don't think petty theft is quite the same as holding people up in an alley.

If that's the case, the speeding ticket I got last week should prove as a wakeup call for me to stop with the Marcus Vick-like activities I'm running.

There was something in the Blade on it this morning.

Given that link I guess it's out. From what I understand, he panicked when he saw the cop knowing what would result if he were caught and grabbed the bike to try and get away. Obviously he made things a lot worse by doing so and is paying the consequences. A hard lesson to learn.

FWIW, I'm surprised he found an unlocked bike. I never left my bike unlocked on campus because bike thefts aren't uncommon on campus.

Exactly. Matsumoto is a good kid who's never been in trouble in the past. To compare him to Clarrett is criminal in and of itself. He made a dumb mistake, plain and simple, and he's paying for it.

Well, I'm hoping a lesson was learned here, but I am also glad he's been reinstated. I just hope he keeps his head on straight and can make this a win-win situation now for himself and the team.

Since none of you have access to the DMV to prove whether or not I have sinned...

TG! A speeding ticket? Don't you know that speed is a factor in 80% of vehicular fatalities? Don't you care that you were endangering not only yourself, but your fellow drivers on the road? What's next, moving to Toledo and pimping out 12-year-old girls to truckers in Alabama? :P

Anyway, given the situation, I think the punishment was apt. If anything, I might have given Matsu two more games, but that is not my decision to make and I trust that Paluch and his staff know what they're doing.

Had he been a "problem child" all along I could understand more of a punishment. This being his first offense ever I think the punishment was appropriate. Remember, this was a full suspension, not just a game suspension. He wasn't even allowed to practice with the team.

We also don't really know if he'll be playing this weekend yet. Nothing has been said about game time, just that he's been reinstated as a team member.

Personally, I'd agree with the two more games. How many games did Bales miss at the beginning of the season?

I didn't know it was a full suspension. I was in the camp of giving him two more games, but in light of the full suspension relevation, I believe the punishment was adequate.

Blurb in the BG news about the incident. He is obviously recieving other penalties to go along with the team suspension. Looking forward to hearing him play tonight with the team.

There's been no word that he's actually playing tonight, just that he's back on the team.
