In regard to coordinator comments ...

We have a head coach here in Philly that came with no coordinator experience. He's done pretty well ... :D

First of all, let me say that I don't believe that Coach Brandon will leave after this year. But if he were to leave, I would personally like to see Coach Boeckman get a shot at the job. He has served under three different coaches for us. He would be a coach that I definitely think would stay at BG as long as BG wanted him. He really has put in enough time to get the job. While we have struggled in the past offensively under Blackney, defensively we were always pretty good. There were times that we weren't sure where the defense went, but it was definitely better than the offense.

Reading between the lines, he also did not say he wouldn't be interested. He just said "Toledo runs the spread. Miami runs the spread. I don't know why Amstutz and Heoppner weren't mentioned as candidates." I never heard Brandon say he wouldn't be interested in UNLV. He deflected the question like a true politician. :ugh:

Those aren't exactly sterling credentials for a head coaching job.

Agreed. A good coordinator does not necessarily make a good HC. They are two completely different jobs. Staying here for years doesn't make me feel so warm & fuzzy to give him the job either.

If Brandon leaves, I'd be looking at the big programs for the next Urban Meyer.

I agree. I actually want a guy who wants to move up. Ambition is the right attitude for a coach.

Yeah. Similar to Dakich's philosophy of wanting players with NBA aspirations.

I can deal with rotating coaches every couple of years so long as we continue to go out and find the best coach and not just promote internally over & over again. If the best coach available is internal, so be it, but if there is better out there go get them.

The fact is that we will never be able to outpay good programs, heck we cannot even offer a salary that is competitive with the Utah or UNLV's of the world. It's a shame, but its the reality of the situation. Personally, I think if our coaches continue to get pilfered it just shows we're doing a good job finding young coaches and our program obviously will be winning for that to happen. There are always young, talented coaches out there, if we have to find them to keep the program going, so be it.
