tekekini wrote:I am here because I care and want the best for BG. But you guys are living in a dream world that has no hopes of comming tru unless we get the hell out of the MAC. The MAC is killing us. This is a football state dominated by one school and three decent teams (UT, Miami and BG). OSU is and always will be the pride and joy but fro christ sake get the F out of the MAC and make an attempt at takig Northwest Ohio from OSU a little more.
Is it wrong to wish that a system many believe to be corrupt or at least astoundingly unfair (I'm talking about the BCS, not OSU) would change, instead of wishing to change our situation? Maybe it ain't pragmatic, but hey-- I guess we're just idealists.
Being in a conference where you have a 1 in a billion shot at a BCS bowl is not going to take the studetns from rooting for OSU or UM. its just not. people want something on a larger scale to root for and BG can not provide that for them.
Funny, it worked for me. I used to be an OSU fan before I came to BG and realized how much I just plain loved it.
Rooting for BG and nothing else is like waitinf for fatstutz to lose a pound. its an unlikely dream.
It depends on what you're rooting them on to. If we're waiting for a "national championship," well then, duh. But if that's the only reason to root for a team, then I guess I've got my priorities screwed up. I thought you root for a team 'cause you love them.
and I constanrly write about OSU because you people constantly write about how much you hate them and how much their fans are arrogant assholes.

Did you ever think that their fans are like that towards you because of the assumptions you make about all OSU fans. I know I act like that towards you people because of the S**t you say on here. when in reality you are talking about a select few that you have bad encounters with.

Most dont think OSU is god and going to win every game hands down. they get nervous just like you do when we play Miami or UT etc.. OSU players bleed just like BG players.
jsut except the facts of how it works in Ohio. The whining crying and bickering is old and it makes you and this whole message board look like a bitch factory.

It really makes it hard to even try to like BG. Because you all act just like you cliam OSU fans to act like.

But I guess it is OK if you do it right?

Jokers.
You're right, I'm from Columbus, and most OSU fans are just the same as everyone else when you meet 'em one on one. It's not that we think they're mean-spirited people or anything. But talk about arrogance when it comes to their team, and you're right on. And NO, not every single person. But in a group, heck yeah. (And don't even pull the argument about "well duh they win all the time so of course they're arrogant." Confidence is different from arrogance.)

Fact is, this is a Bowling Green board. We don't have to like OSU. No one gets all offended when we complain about any other team. Why should Ohio State be so different?!

(Edited to add: I posted the same time Bleeding Orange did. His first paragraph is much more eloquent... but I guess I was trying not to be quite as harsh.... )

Thank you both for posting those replies. Saved me a whole lot of time and I would say EXACTLY what you did. Very well put.

I will, one last time, try to enlighten our misguided friend on a couple things. Then, I will move on...

Miami, FL"
I meant between BG and Zero State....which I'm sure you knew.

I'm sure BG has done some things they are so under the radar no one cares, they can get away with it.

BG has NEVER been found guilty of ANY NCAA infractions. FACT, pal. You can't say the same for Zero State.

Ummm...cuz they probably are. Look at the SEC alone. They don't call it the Southeastern Cheaters conference for nothin'>

"again, this is a cry baby attitude that a MAC fan takes because no one respects us so we are gonna bitch about it and cry a river for the whole friggin country"

Really? If you actually do the work, you'll find that over 1/2 those schools are or were on some type of probation for violations in the last 5-10 years...and the others just hadn't been caught or are being investigated.

Hmmm...didn't NW win the Big Ten 3 times in the last decade? Oh, sorry to confuse you with facts.

"ONCE and they didnt play OSU that year. The years BG beat them Nwestern was a cellar dwellar. big whip."

Really? BG beat NW in 2001 and NW was the DEFENDING Big Ten Champ...and were picked to repeat. They were Champs in 1995, 1996 and 2000.
http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/data ... tabase.htm
Just in case ya missed that. I would say that's 3 times in the last decade.

Good day, sir.

Absolutely. I used to be (well, still am) a diehard Michigan fan, but BG has won me over and I am all about these sports. I still root for Michigan, but if BG were to ever play them, I'd show up decked out in orange and brown from head to toe with no regrets at all.
tekekini wrote:Rooting for BG and nothing else is like waitinf for fatstutz to lose a pound. its an unlikely dream.
That really didn't make any sense... "rooting for BG is an unlikely dream"? I root for BG because I go here. I don't give half a s**t who wins the national championship, I want to see BG win the MAC, beat Toledo, beat NIU, and that's basically it. I'd honestly rather not see BG get into the BCS and get screwed by it like everyone else. I'm happy with where we're at.

I, too, live in Columbus when I'm not here at BG, and I can say that nothing has contributed more to my distaste for that school, that team, and that entire program than the fans and students there. There's an infuriating arrogance that just radiates around that campus and it is awful. Being a Michigan fan and being physically threatened (and battered) by arrogant OSU fans will do that to you, I guess.
But then again, it might just be those orange, brown, maize and blue glasses I'm seeing the world through.

bottom line is that you all hate because of jealousy, you want BG to be where OSU is so bad that you can not handle it. It has turned every sigle one of you into a cry baby. Northern Ohio is pretty heavily democratic, go figure. Democrats are sterotypical class A ball babying sobbers who are not willing to accept the things in their lives the way that they are but cry because they want everything changed. The world does not work like that, and you still have not figured that out. Maybe that just shows your maturity levels?

Something else that shows your maturity levels is the fact that you get so angry over sports. It is, afterall, just a game.

You dont just cheer to root for a team because you love them, they are in the same divisions as Big ten ACC SEC etc.. they are in the same division where the BCS awards a national champion. They players play to win that title, the fans root for them to do so.

also shows maturity level when you try to personally attack me and you know nothing abut me...i havent personally attacked anyone.

I guess OSU fans have more class t

Bullshit.

[qoute]I guess OSU fans have more class
I don't think I've ever seen that descriptor and that word in the same sentence. In fact, in Ohio State's most recent alumni magazine, there is a very lengthy article exploring the question of why so many OSU fans are such fanatical morons. But, I'll bet you didn't know that - you know, you not being OSU alum and all.*

You are an embarassment. Mostly to yourself. As my esteemed colleague Freak said, Good day, sir.

* Before you even ask how I know this, my father is OSU alum and recieves the magazine. I picked it up when I saw this article on the cover. The article was pretty much BS as far as actually discovering any solutions, and ended up accusing Michigan fans of being just as bad ( ), but the very fact that the OSU AA is even engaging this question pretty much invalidates everything you have said...well...ever.

Muchas gracias para jugando. Hasta luego!
Teke, I think you mean you don't cheer or root for a team because you love them. Because, obviously, many of us do.

I'm sorry you won't try to understand the real reasons many posters here don't feel affection for Ohio State. But I assure you, for most of us it has nothing to do with jealousy. Didn't you read Peregrinner's post about being happy in the MAC? That sums it up for me, and I suspect quite a few others.

It's like with anything you love. You don't love it for what it could be someday, constantly hoping it'll get there so it will somehow be more worthy of your support. A parent can love his or her child and be proud of their achievements, without wishing for them to be an Olympic medallist or a Nobel Laureate. Sure, it would be thrilling if it happened, but it doesn't really matter at the core of things.

Not a perfect analogy, I know, but just trying to clarify.

Were you officiating the hockey game last night? You're clearly as blind as he was. For you to say the 'bottom line" is that we're jealous clearly means that you didn't read a single post on here. At least two of us, maybe more, have specifically referenced things that are the cause of our distaste for the institution that is 'the' OSU. I clearly wrote that it was experiences with OSU students and their campus that made me dislike the school. It ties into the football program because they were all jerks to me about being from Michigan... not even liking the program, just being BORN there, because they couldn't take off their "scarlet glasses" and get the hell over it.

By the way... you haven't attacked anyone? You just called all of us "stereotypical class A ball babying sobbers" oh, and you said that we cry because we want everything changed... I'm pretty sure you're the one saying BG should change conferences and everything.. we're happy the way things are.
Get your attacks straight. It's dumb enough to make them and in the same post deny them, but to not even make sense is just obscenely stupid.

I think you need to learn to take a joke. people from michigan say the same thing to OSU fans. I hear it all the time in Frankenmuth and those people end up buying me a beer
because people outside of BG have a sense of humor I guess?

I didnt mean that you shouldnt love a team if they cant win championships but whenever you love something you want better for it. Football teams are not anything like a girlfriend/wife/husband whatever but even though your significant other is not perfect you still hope for things to always be better for them and that they are happy.

same goes for a football team, you always want them to get better and win championships.

you should good day sir yourself. You are one of the immature cry babies I am talking about. You, in fact, may be the biggest one.

I dont care what some gay alumni magazine says. it is run by the alumni association not the university itself. It is talking about a few over crazy fanatics compared to millions of fans for OSU. Since when are people not alowed to get excited for the games and talk trash. Atleast the student section at OSU doesnt yell in unison f**k UM as the BG section does about UT, I have been to several UM OSU games and have not once heard any F UM chants

dot talk to me about class. I have definately seen a lot of un classy thngs happen at BG.
