Naw, that one is a pretty good chant. The entire point of the old "Section A" was to get in the goalie's head, and this is one of the base chants a crowd can use to do so. When it comes to the goalie, all bets are off. That is the guy that you, as the fan, are supposed to really get after.

That is not a Miami chant - that is an everybody chant. Hell, Arizona Icecats fans use that one at the end of their goal count!

There is a fine line between what is acceptable and what is obscene, granted, but we need to hook you up with Falcon Fanatic to teach you where that line resides!!!*

I don't know, that one's been around for years (I remember it when I was in college! ).

Miami(OH) *does* have this great chant where one side of the arena yells something about the goalie, and then the other side of the aren... oh, nevermind.
Don't they just kinda sit there looking "board" :?:

Yeah, I guess I should let that one slide, especially in light of the fact that it is not a Miami ripoff.
...and I have to give you credit for saying "the bomb.com" i haven't heard that in a while, and it made me laugh out loud.

While i do agree that vulgarity in chants is unnecessary, i would much rather hear "you suck"s than the f-bomb and other expletives being tossed around...tonight was definately a step in the right direction in that regard.

I totally agree regarding the degree of vulgarity in the chants, I simply think the "Hey - YOU SUCK!" chant is totally classless. Even at an Arizona game I don't hear that kind of crap. Honestly, I've never heard it anywhere other than BG - and that makes me sad.

I should say that there are many schools that use the "Hey!" song, but there are very few that I've heard that throw the "YOU SUCK!" in there. This is where my antipathy comes from...

If the Hey You Suck chant is so bad, how come they played the Hey! song after every goal in the game?

image of the night was after the game, Rich Meloche sprinting over to the student section and jumping up onto the boards to celebrate with the students. You could tell by the way the team reacted to the crowd tonight, especially the students, that this outpouring of support and adrenaline to feed off of was not lost amongst the team or the coaches...it really had the feeling of something special. Even Pooch pumped his fist in the air to the students as he walked from the bench to the door. It was just an amazing night to be a Falcon!

As far as the "Hey" chant goes, Maryland basketball busted out a Hey, F*** Duke chant a few years ago. Lots and lots of schools say you suck or something worse in connectiion to that song. The students are just trying to get into the game. It semms everything we do, you all jump on. We are just trying to make some noise and get on the opponent. We are all there to support BG athletics and there's about 17,000 students who didnt make that effort, so give us some credit.

I give the students mad props for turning out last night, but don't try to tell me that you need to add the "You suck!" part to "get into the game".

A few side notes:
-Anytime Duke is involved as the opponent, all obscenity deals are off.
-Again, I say this from a horribly hypocritical view, as not only do I curse like a sailor at many games, but I probably kick puppies and toss kittens into dumpsters on my way there. But as we've discussed before, there's a difference between dropping an f-bomb, etc, and repeating it in unison with others.*

(*-unless Duke or Toledo is the opponent. Screw them.)

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
