Oops sorry, right I mean WMU and Eastern. The crowd today wasn't horrible but we still need more students coming out though.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Our next two home games are Western (Next Sat) and Eastern (Following Wed). We need AA to be rockin for Eastern. the crowd was a huge factor in our win over Eastern last year and we'll need it again. That team is still very good.

I thought the reason the crowd wasn't horrible was because there were several middle school girls hoops teams in AA. I really did not think the students had that great of a showing, but our young friends did a great job of cheering on the Falcons. I hope more people will come out to the next games because our girls deserve a good crowd.falconboy wrote:Oops sorry, right I mean WMU and Eastern. It was also Alumni Day. Many former players came back to BG to share their stories from their days playing at BG at a reception at the Alumni Center after the game. What really impressed me about the game is that we held Miami's top 3 scores to 2o total points (Hawkins had 10, Merrill had
6 and Schone had 4.) Another thing that really spoke to me about just how talented our team really is that when Kate went of the game because of some foul trouble and Jasmine came in to replace her, the team never skipped a beat. We were just as effective as we were with Kate in there. With her 19 points, Liz only needs 11 Wednesday at Central to join Ali in the 1,000 points club. Ed ran into one of Miami's assistant coaches in the restroom after the game and he told Ed "[we] have a post player like Liz Honegger that can hit the 3 ... how do [they] stop that?" The assistant coach also commented on there wasn't much of a dropoff when Jasmine came into the game. Miami is a very physical team, to pu tit mildly. THe player that Kate was guarding kept swinging her around like a ragtime sending her to the ground, one player fouled Carin really hard under out basket and sent her flying and toward the end of the game one of their players poked Casey in the eye. They definitely came out and wanted to intimidate our team, but the ladies would have no part of it. We never backed down no matter how physcial they tried to make the game.
I got to be an honory coach for the game so I got to watch their early morning shootaround, join them for their pergame meal, go back to the locker room with the team before the game and at halftime, and join the team in the huddle during timeouts. It was so much fun.

Michelle- so cool! That had to be a great time. My other half went to the reception and had a great time visiting with all the alumni Falcons. Since the program doesn't have it (*cough, ahem**) he found it interesting to hear what all the current players are majoring in.
Could we take maybe 2 pages out of the football program and make a decent program for basketball? Men's too????
Most fun was talking to Megan McGuire.
Let's hope Liz gets 10 at Central and breaks it at home. Don't want to jinx her but would like to be there and can't get to Central!

Great game by our women!
I was sitting near a guy and his daughters who was from Perrysburg and was there to see Laura Markwood of Miami. He didn't know a whole lot about our team so I was telling him about our players. I told him and others that Miami doesn't have a bad team (they had taken Kent into OT earlier in the week before losing by five), it's just that we were totally lighting it up, especially in that first half. Miami made a little run in the second half, but there was never a point in that game where we were in any danger of losing whatsoever. This team just keeps rolling. I'm already looking forward to the MAC Tournament.

Yeah , I was surprised when I saw the box score too. 1,667 is a pretty good crowd and probably our biggest crowd to date that I can remember for sure. I didnt' seem like that many where there though even though the student section was filled fairly nicely but not mainly with BG students though.Falconfreak90 wrote:Box score said attendance was 1,667! Wow....I couldn't make the game like I first thought I would but did listen on the internet. It was a blowout all the way.
KEEP IT UP, FALCONS!!!
