Probably a valid point, but in this case, the mid-week game last year were quality matchups. In 2006, we'd run the risk of having BG-Buffalo on a Wednesday night. (Not to mention the other conference gems that could happen on a Wednesday.) Also, while bowing to ESPN and playing our marquee games on Tues/Weds opened the MAC up for criticism, moving an entire month of conference play to mid-week opens us up for things that aren't even legal in most states!

On top of that the biggest difference, to me, was that 2 of the 3 were road games. The lone home game was on Thanksgiving week, making for easy vacation usage.
By having them mid-week and televised I got to see 2 games that I might have not seen otherwise. However, if they were home games I would've been complaining (along with others I'm sure) about how we missed out on tailgating and enjoying the gameday atmosphere.
Under the old/current scheduling format, the teams expected to be at the top of the league would already have those last 2 games scheduled for weeknights (plus some others - Ohio played on Tues then Mon to finish out the season).
This new format isn't that much of a stretch versus what was already in place.
Wed night classes are a concern, but you already have that situation with weeknight games during basketball season. At least this way, every student who is a football fan will know to avoid Wed night classes when making their schedule at the start of the year.
Attendance is the obvious negative, especially for those teams at the bottom of the conference. There might be 20 people in the stands for Kent State vs Buffalo on a Wed night in mid-Nov.
They forget about the fans. I was amongst a couple of people that I know who excitedly purchased airline tickets to Boise last year when the schedule was released in February. They changed it in April to a Wednesday night game and we were unable to go because it was played in the middle of the week.
The rationale is that you can't just play the televised games on the weekdays and the regular games on the weekends, because there are no more off days built into the schedule. In the past, if we played a weekday game, we had the next week off. With the 12-game schedule, you can't do that. With that option out of the playbook, in order to maintain a conference schedule in November, we need everyone to play on the weeknights.

Although I guess if they start in July, they can have a 16 week schedule, a playoff, and be home for Thanksgiving!

I asked Scott Seeliger about this when i ran into him at a Univ swim meet on Saturday...it sounds like it's all set. He reasoned some of the same things people are talking about here...other games were mid-week, the total stays the same they are just at end of season.
I still wish we would make Boise travel mid-week
Get your car pool squads lined up! Hopefully one of them will be @ Akron in Nov to make it a little easier.
On an unrelated note....Myles pizza is still pretty damn good!

It sucks...plain and simple. I guess I better save a couple extra vacation days to make these games. Then there's the MAC title game...and a bowl if applicable.

I hear ya. It's good for me in that I'll probably be able to see the Falcons on TV a bit more often. OTOH, it pretty much takes November off the table as far as our annual road trip.
