According to Scout
Making assumptions is a dangerous game, of course, but I'm giving Coach Brandon the benefit of the doubt here.
He obviously knows how much we're losing at WR. He also knows what we have in the cupboard. That leads me to believe he's comfortable with the combination of returning players and whatever kids he converts to WR from this recruiting class.
Looks like we're stocking up on a lot athletes and that's a good sign. We definitely need to get quicker and more athletic on defense.

Hutcherson was not highly thought of before his departure. He was billed as having 4.5 speed, but that may have been for 20 yards, not 40.
Alexander's loss hurt, but that's college football.
I think we'll be fine at WR with Partridge as a number #1 threat and Parks as #2. Spring and fall practice will determine how WR shakes out after that. O'Drobinak gives us a TE who can catch and block. You can't sell that dimension short in the red zone.
So far as a deep threat goes....On film, Aron Davis looks a LOT like Charles Sharon...

Hutcherson was a top 75 receiver coming out of HS. I had class with him and the chalk looked more excited to be there most of the time.
We need Mahone on defense a lot more than we need him at WR.
Aaron Davis is the name that seems to get missed on these conversations. He is at least 6'2" and runs well. He didn't put up eye-popping numbers b/c he played in an option first offesne in HS.

Good thread! Love the recruiting talk. Can't wait to see Aaron Davis, and I agree--we need Mahome on D!
I think Coach knows he needs WRs for his offense. Hasn't he been criticized before for recruiting TOO much offense?
Freak--I agree. The Rockets will have a fine class. Why worry about it. Let's win the football game.

Wrong again. This quote is from Rivals....
"But, football might not even be Mahone's best sport. He is also a standout in baseball and he has already been hearing from Major League Baseball scouts.
"I talked to the Yankees the other day," he said. "They sent me a questionnaire and asked me if I was drafted would I go but I think I'll play football."
Rivals has bumpoed up their ratings on Brown and Glaud. They are both a hair under three stars (Rivals uses a secondary RR number) Glaud and Brown are now a 5.4 RR. A 5.5 = ***

Will someone please explain to me how two sites Rivals and Scout can have so much disparity between them? Scout has us 2nd in the MAC and Rivals lists us as 8th. How by looking at pretty much the same players (give or take a few because of not updating lists) can there be this extreme of a difference in opinions? Rivals has Buffalo up there pretty high and they only have 3 total recruits listed!
Also I was looking on Scout, and I noticed something that maybe someone can help me with. Does every J.C. recruit automatically recieve a 3 star rating? I noticed a lot of other MAC schools had a few 3 star recruits but the majority were J.C. recruits. I would think when comparing classes the fact that BG, UT, Miami and a few others have 3 star recruits out of high school. Is any weight given to this fact or am I just ranting about how full of crap these ranking systems can be?

Flipper, how can I be wrong with asking a question??? I didn't say that he wasn't going to play football. And because he says "I think I'll play football" does not mean that he isn't considering baseball.Flipper wrote:Wrong again. This quote is from Rivals....

I know you hate everything about Toledo, but you need to take off your goggles sometime instead of thinking that everyone is trying to trash you and BG.
