I don't really spend that much time on here, and I certainly haven't been taking shot on BG here. I guess some people just don't know how to act with class.
Newsflash - Bowling Green fans don't like Toledo. Bowling Green fans don't like Toledo fans. Bowling Green fans don't like Toledo fans who post messages on a Bowling Green internet message board.

Is that really so hard to understand?
This is what I don't understand about some of you BG fans. There are others BG fans here that hate Toledo and hate some of the UT fans, but respect UT and are friendly to some UT fans. It's the same the other way around too.

Then there are others that stereotype everyone and say they hate them even though that particular poster has never come on their board to put them down.

That's what is hard to understand. You let your hatred get in the way for some stupid reason. If someone feels that way they are either narrow-minded or just plain classless......maybe both.
You could take out BG and Toledo from that speech and insert any two rivals in any two sports and the conclusion would be the same. It says nothing about BG or Toledo. It's just the way it is.
To a certain extent. But I also know that there are a lot of UT and BG fans that have respect for the other school. Many of the longer time fans have this respect for the other school. When you look at other rivalries I don't see that same respect near as much. I think that is part of what makes this rivalry so great.

Think about it. Our schools are about 20 minutes apart and many UT and BG fans live and work in Toledo or the surrounding area. I know people that go to BG or are fans of BG and I am friends with them and get along with them just fine.

In 2004 when BG visited the Glass Bowl there was a couple from BG in front of us. I was nice to them and they were nice to us. BG was killing us 27-7 at halftime and we were talking friendly about stuff. We talked about Omar and how we both thought that 2005 would be his last year at BG and so forth. I never met this couple before the game. This was because of the respect we have for each school and that we were classy people. You don't see much of that happening in the OSU/UM rivalry or the Auburn/Alabama rivalry, and so on.

Not sure I agree but I see where you're going. The conflict happens when you have a person from each side who each wants different things from the rivalry. People like me and you want to talk sports and be respected and respectful. When one of us runs into a drunk student that just wants to hate something or piss somebody off, that's when things get stupid. I think everyone knows somebody cut from each cloth.

I'm just not sure our rivalry is more or less heated than the two you mentioned or others. I grew up in the UM-OSU rivalry and I know plenty of OSU and Michy fans that are very respectful of each other and the rivalry. I know a lot of OSU fans that are complete dicks, and some that are perfectly reasonable people. It all depends on what personal experiences you've had.

That is why he knows exactly how much time the BG coaches spent recruiting Michigan talent the last couple of years.

His quote in an earlier post:
you guys haven't been pushing the state as hard the last couple of years either

And how exactly does he know this?

God only knows
You know that if you weren't a Red Wing fan I would have to take you out to the alley and beat you silly.

I am sure that someone here can tell us that BG is recruiting Michigan very hard and just not getting as many players signed from there that they used to. I mean can you believe that BG only has 9 players on their roster from the state of Michigan? Look back 5 years ago and see how many Michigan kids were on your roster. Heck, you almost have as many Florida kids (7) as you do Michigan kids. This tells me that you have stepped up your recruiting and have realized that there are fewer top level recruits in Michigan.

Boy...for not spending much time on this board, he sure responded to posts quickly

I also see that you had to go running with your tail between your legs back to your homies on the MACBBS board for some reassurance after Flipper smacked you around...priceless :D

It's probably a good idea to NOT recruit Michigan...their HS football SUCKS.

Michigan is a power on the national level only because they're one of the very best at going out and finding national talent, and getting them to relocate. If they had to depend on instate talent they'd be sunk.

You could even go as far as saying they're the one big power that is NOT from a homestate that is wealthy with HS talent.

As for RF, I have no problem with him. I don't like Toledo, but any of their fans that are capable of coming over here and engaging in intelligent conversation (which I think RF usually manages) I've got no problem with.

I'm still on this board, therefore still posting. When I leave I probably won't post here again for a couple of days.

Now RWT, don't try to twist things. In my post on the UT forum of MACbbs I tried to make it out as a slam at UT only.......you did read the subject line, right? I wasn't looking for reassurance after Flipper smacked my around.

And if I wanted to be a dick like certain people I wouldn't use a message board for it. I would use my 6-4, 300 pound body to beat the crap out of them the next time that person calls me a name (after finding out I was RF) at a UT/BG tailgate and then proceeds to run away before they even get a response. And no, I am not talking about you. Your Red Wing obsession is cool, plus I am sure you know you have never met me before.

Smacked my (sic) around? Geez, you are a sensitive little flower....sure I took a shot at you...you people do the same thing to me on the rocket rent a board on ncaabbs. I've clicked on random topis over there on more than one occasion only to find my personality being discussed by a group of perfect strangers. I don't throw a hissy fit and brag about the manliness of my physique, I roll with it and respond with brilliant japes, jibes and....stuff. .

Besides, with Metz on our board (and yes, me) 6-4 and 300 doesn't get you very far. You'd be third in line for the doughnuts...
