BG falls in OT, 77-72.
Hammb seems to be right on with his analysis again. I'm not so sure that I agree with the poster that said Floyd would be "great" at the D-2 level either. From an effort standpoint, he is obviously one of our top guys. He has added obvious strength in the offseason, but I'm afraid that he's slower now than in prior years.
While most of you disagree on Hammb's assessment of Dusan, I completely and wholeheartedly agree. After discussing this a few games back, it's painfully clear that the competition in Dusan's league was very poor or that he became used to no one playing defense, which is a regular stereotype of European basketball. You need a sundial to measure his release, that is, if he takes a shot, because he waits for the entire side of the floor he's on to clear before attempting anything. He's ballhandling is suspect at best and he provides little in terms of athleticism and defense. His best attribute is passing, but I need a little more comfort than "good passing" from my 7 or 8 guy.
Quick note, I didn't get a chance to see highlights or the game itself, but Sims had 13 Friday night as Snider lost to Bishop Dwenger 54-53.

Sims gets 20+ very consistently. Off game. Snider is winning, but not at the clip I had hoped for. I'm wondering how far they will go in their state tournament.OptionQB wrote: Quick note, I didn't get a chance to see highlights or the game itself, but Sims had 13 Friday night at Snider lost to Bishop Dwenger 54-53.
It sounded like BD played really tough defense . . . Tennessee commit Marques Johnson only had 7 in the boxscore. That could be misleading if he was in foul trouble or injured or whatever. I was very surprised to see they combined for 20.
With the growing amount of heat piling on Floyd and Moon's lack of offensive game, Kris Wilson's presence becomes much more intriguing, but does he provide any answers (given he becomes a part of the team) that the other two don't?

Wilson can flat out, stone cold shoot the damned thing. However, his numbers at Rio Grande aren't reflective of a D1 player, so I'm really wondering what's going on.OptionQB wrote:It sounded like BD played really tough defense . . . Do you think that the heat piling on Floyd means anything? We're just bunch of slackhammers on an anonymous message board. It's hard for me to get a sense of what these post can really affect.
A little birdie told me that Floyd might've tried to quit after our last home game, but he returned to the team.
Could we possibly be so lucky for a transfer to save us like that!?
As for Dusan, I'm not saying he won't develop, but right now he's about 4 inches shorter than advertised and his release is so slow he cannot get a shot off in this league.

To be honest, I really hope Floyd doesn't bail. I'm not much of a fan of Floyd as a player, but I am so sick and tired of seeing us lose guys every year that it's reached the point for me where I can at least admire a guy who can gut it out and play at BG for a career. With that said, I also wouldn't mind seeing other guys get some of his minutes if his performances don't bode well for the team. He's a veteran player and I hope he can get things going. But if not, hopefully he's able to help the other guys in practice, from the bench, and most importantly, on the floor when he does play. He can still help this team in ways that he couldn't if he left.
GO BG!!!

I have mixed feelings. We could bloody well use his scholarship for a beast who can board and defend the low post.BGSU33 wrote:To be honest, I really hope Floyd doesn't bail. However, for basic humanistic reasons, I don't ever like saying that I'd want someone to transfer. I actually feel a little sorry for the guy.
Now that the game has passed for five or six hours, I agree. Sure, he looks lost out there sometimes, but as was mentioned before, the dedication is there and he's always giving it his all, laying out on the floor when he has to.BleedOrange wrote:I actually feel a little sorry for the guy.

I just wonder how some of you would feel if you were reading all of this TRASH, and John Floyd was your son. The kid works his A$$ off, and isn't perfect, but that is no reason for him to have to put up this all of this abuse from a bunch of "has beens" or more likely "NEVER BEENS". If you want to complain about DD, he is a big boy, but GET OFF THE PLAYERS!!!
